Greensome Handicap Calculations

I'm aware various calcs are used. I'm thinking that the CONGU Appendix F document is probably best guide (and the accompanying table) but when did things change from 3/8 of combined to the .6 of lower plus .4 of higher?

And has it ever been acceptable to use exact handicaps rather than playing when doing either of these calculations?

Just want to get opinions before I have a quiet word for a society meet.

don't know when the change was implemented but I played in a greensome 3 years ago with the 0.6/0.4 calc

That's the calc for Foursomes. Greensomes should be slightly 'tougher' because of the choice of Drives.

No idea when it went to 60:40. I seem to remember it was 7/16ths of combined at one stage, though could be wrong - not played either format for years!
