Our club started a blog for the head greenkeeper some time ago, updated weekly or more often if needed to give information on the work being done around the course. It has been well supported and received and the incidence of moaning about aspects of course maintenance have reduced when playing as members know what is being done and why.

Doesn't stop all the moans but it seems an excellent way of communicating with members over a vital aspect of the club. Do other clubs do the same?

Our new course manager is doing monthly updates on the website and held a teach-in session for me members to explain what is being done and why. It's fair to say the old guy had let the place go a bit so he has his work cut out but a bit of communication is good to see and will hopefully stop some of the clubhouse whinging.

Without straying too far from the point, I do find it strange how many club websites/communication channels seem to have lagged far behind not only the emerging technology but also in the time taken to utilise it

Doubtless there are clubs with marketing managers that are right at the forefront but others seem to be stuck with the website that a well meaning member created for free one night and are not only viually poor but devoid of any links to social media etc & lack features like forums, blogs, web chat etc, even basic stuff such as current weather hasn't been included

Most clubs/courses are still businesses afterall and what business can afford to ignore this technology in this day?

Looking to introduce it.Great thing IMO as too many members moan without knowing the facts behind why things are happening. For instance only this week I had to deal with a complaint that was so ridiculous I had to stop myself laughing my socks off at it....totally clueless to the science of it.

Do elaborate. I could do with a laugh.
