Yesterday we Seniors played a three ball with the best two stableford scores to count, full handicaps off the blue tees (6,142 yards). It was windy and the greens had just been hollow-tined with no dressing yet applied, so putting was a bit of a lottery. One group managed 96 points! Yes, ninety-six points. Can anyone out there beat that? And before you say anything, I was not a member of that group.

That's rather impressive - especially given the conditions.

I've seen quite a few 4-ball best 2 scores count comps and it's normally 90 or thereabouts that wins. So to beat that with a 3-ball.....

Not as if Seniors are going to improve markedly over Winter either!

I played in a 4ball a few weeks ago. It was two scores to count on all holes except 9&18 where it was three. We were off 3/4 handicap and came in with 100 points. Think we had something like 10 birdies and an eagle between us. Took he money by a mile.

I take it that it was the best two scores on each hole. That equates to an average of five and a third points per hole so they had to score 5 or 6 points on most holes - achievable but pretty impressive.
