Had my first club fitting today (not custom made) at the local club as I am upgrading from my rather awful 3 wood.

First great part was that the pro didn't just sit there giving me different clubs, he actually helped me with my swing.

After going through most of the clubs in the shop he advised me to get the cheapest we had tried as that suited my style best (Benross VT Xtreme 3MAX) rather than the more expensive ones. As a relative new comer to the game, he could easily have sold a more expensive club for the extra cash.

Always good to hear of decent service. Well done to the pro and I hope you'll use him for more common things like balls etc instead of lining the pockets of facelss organisations like AG.

If you can build a decent relationship with your pro you'll find it will be beneficial. For example he'll always give me a quick tip or swing analysis on the practice ground, will throw in the odd sleeve of balls etc. I'd rather buy through him for a few extra quid where possible than AG and the like.

That said I do have a tale of oor service. I wanted some of the new 2009 Adidas shirts for my birthday and so I found a website that a) had the style I wanted and b) were competitively priced. My wife ordered them on the 2nd and they hadn't arrived by last Thursday so she dropped them a mail. Apparently they order them in directly from Adidas and were waiting on delivery. No mention of that anywhere on their site and it quite clearly led you to believe the gear was in stock. Thankfully one arrived yesterday and the other today but I won't be using golfsupport.co.uk again.

I did ask my pro but as he doesn't have a TM account he'd have to order directly from TM or via Adidas and couldn't promise to come close to price matching. He was very honest and upfront and didn't try and get me something in at excessive prices.
