I couldn't warm to him when he first came on the scene and it didn't improve when he shouted at his team on the radio. Undoubtedly a great driver and I can see him getting the 'Tiger' treatment from the media, unfortunately.

I think I am warm to him. Look at the other kids who came up from the past Alonso, Vettel. Horrible people. Intelligent, talented, honest but ....
Anyhow, regardless. For the time being its nice to see the new boy do well. A change is as good as a rest.
And honestly Merc are the worst team on the grid. Best car so clearly the technical people are brilliant but operations of the team are just so poor. Worst team to ever win championships.

I have to disagree with that, winner quote. Plenty of decent people win things but the unpleasant ones stand out. I accept that F1 is a very selfish sport, more so than most others, so perhaps F1 suffers more than most but it is not compulsory.

Sadly you only see the media face, behind this some of the drivers are good company. Some are not, some are just selfish as you say.
The problem is the media push their luck these guys get caught out or somethings said in confidence get out to the media and from there on these guys become guarded and aloof.

Yep, they also get a lot of coaching. Max does seem naturally sure of himself without being too caustic though. Impressive for one so young. Danny Rick though is just fantastic on and off the track!
Anyhow, for the moment I am a fan of both the redbull drivers despite the team they race for being my least favorite.
