Great independent golf stores?

Our Club shop though limited in the fact they cannot compete with the Inverness stores on price of clubs, do very good deals on Shoes and Clothing and have a wide range of top brands. They will try and get things if members ask. this morning for instance i asked about a bushnell tour X range finder, they sourced some though they didn't have an agreement with Bushnell. Got it for the lowest price that is available through the internet in the UK and i will get a further discount once it comes in.

All the 3 Inverness stores previously AP Thompsons, all have good service, good prices and PX on stuff as well as a good selection of SH clubs..

The guy i go to for lessons is the Mizuno dealer and he has lent me his clubs in the past as it was a model i was interested in. Ive taken drivers a woods out for a trial over the weekend to use on a course.

We get very good service up here, which probably explains why the AG store in Inverness does not do very well.

I thought Valentines in Swindon was very good for an independent, believe there is another one somewhere else in Wilts too.

The best one local to me is Clarke's golf. They have 3/4 Pro shops and a superstore near St Helens. Fantastic stock. Price match. Great staff, and the family that own it are great people too.

+1 for these guys..... Great set up and they stock everything! They even have the new quintic putting analysis which is amazing!......

Might have cost me a bit of money today

Not another bloody putter????? Is the putt lab worthwhile???

Afraid so.....
The putting lab is quality.... Some great stats.... I was actually putting backspin on my putts with my scotty.... They are naturally higher lofted (4 deg) so tried a few and looked at stroke and various angles and impact positions and alignment stats. Turns out my smoke is pretty good and it was set up and spin that were my biggest issues. Ended up with a lower lofted counterbalanced odyssey 2 ball fang...
Well worth an hour in there pal...

Edit*** I've had more drivers than putters ;)

Great stuff. Seriously tempted now.

Oh, and I've had more iron sets than you've had Drivers :D

I go to Chris Potter Golf in Norwich for almost all my golf stuff. He's recently moved from a bigger shop into a smaller one but the service is excellent. My 7 year old wanted some new clubs for his birthday so I took him along to have a look at some in the shop. Instead of just measuring him and giving him the clubs he arranged to meet us at an indoor simulator and spent almost an hour with us letting my boy hit shots into the screen. There was no rush or pressure and he didn't charge me for the time spent there. He'll also price match internet prices for clubs etc.

Parkstone Golf Shop in Dorset are excellent. Steve and his team offer a great service and lots of equipment / clothing as well as hosting demo days for all the major brands. Sales are always great value.

Slightly loathe to post in this thread as I'm still a newbie here and don't want to come across as a spam bot.

However, I use Gloucester Golf Centre in Barnwood, Gloucester. The first time I went there was a number of years ago. It was a draughty shed in an industrial unit. However, it's had a full makeover and is now a smart and well stocked shop. I've always found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and the prices to be competitive.

I go there for lessons with their pro's and love the launch monitor and putt-lab stuff.

Agree...great service and good value, especially when they have sales.
Loving the comments about Keele Driving Range...hilarious. For those that missed the context, check out the thread

Tony Valentines in Swindon & Corsham are exceptional. Considerably better choice than any main stream shop, they'll price match, give discounts for multiple purchases and have great custom fit facilities.

Their online shop and eBay sites are also great

They offer a great service but I don't agree about stock, unfortunately they don't have the floor space to carry much stock.
