I've been glued to the box, watching the Accenture match play.
Some fantastic golf displayed by many of the players. Brilliant coverage, including breathtaking overhead shots from the blimp!
Generally a well behaved crowd, ok, there's the mandatory whooping from the Yank crowd. What really gets my goat are the complete prats who feel it necesary to scream "Get in the hole!!!" whenever anyone putts on the green.
I'm sure it makes al the difference doesn't it?
It's fairly customary in US competitions nowadays. How different it is in European and Brit competitions. I prefer to think we're a bit more refined but do wonder how long it will be until "Get in the hole" will be part and parcel of the European game.

I agree great coverage by sky, been glued to it all afternoon !

Hopefully that particular shout will never be part of the european game !!

It is something Sky have done well for many years. I think they have the best team (Clarke, Barter, etc on course) and the better commentators (with the exeception of Alliss).

I hate the BBC coverage especially when Torrance and Grady are in the booth zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I have to say I was forced to get Setanta for the USPGA coverage and whilst I'd happily play a round with Sarah Stirk there coverage isn't too clever

I think people are posting about football tonight because the golf has become all too predictable, Mr Woods is in a league of his own which although great for him isn't so great for the viewing public who like the idea of competition in sport.

Have also been watching it and agree the coverage has been top notch.

Cant remember much of Saturday as I was in the pub watching Wales on their way to another grand slam, but it looked good when I got home with my takeaway and pissed off Mrs.

I cant stand the yanks shouting "get in the hole" they have even strated doing it on par 5`s!!!!!

I have watched it from the start and it's been a great comp.
I have to agree with htl,i couldn't believe it on friday when they were on the tee of a par 5 and some moron shouts the usual Get In The Hole. It's the only thing that spoils these tournaments.(even if the winner is always predictable)

Homer, I have to disagree with you on two points.

Firstly how the hell can you say Torrance is boring??? He is a very very informative man who not only knows whats hes talking about but genuinely knows the players he is talking about and has their 100% respect. His stories and one liners are superb and IMO the natural replacement for the delightful Mr A!

Also Setanta (again in my opinion) is superior to Sky in terms of fewer ad breaks. Really enjoy Setanta and think their coverage is just as good as it was under Sky. Also happened to notice Sarah had dropped a couple of her mini eggs the other night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The golf has been a bit predictable today yes, but Woods did not make easy work of Holmes, Baddely and Stenson. Baddely in particular had three 10 footers on the bounce to close out the match against him.

As much as i love competition in sport , this guy is going to be one of the best sportsman/woman of our generation. I say enjoy it

I was sat up till the wee small hours watching the outcome of the VJ game. Fatigue got the better of me so I went to bed and caught the result on Saturday morning.
One thought occurred whilst watching it............my God, he's soooooooo slow. Sometimes he just looks like he can't be arsed as he ambles up the fairway.

Bloody good job he has a caddy to carry his bag!!!

Coverage is good but please will the commentator's please stop making out that evey effing shot that Tiger has is so difficult. We all play golf and there is never a shot that we can't play, well not to the extreme that they try to make out. These guys are Pro's they know how to play the shot's. Please sack Ewan Murray. He is a ballbag

Have to agree with thecraw on this one. The US coverage that Satanta uses is far superior to Sky. Not so bad this week because Oustie and Harmon have joined the team, but Ewan Murray and Critchley just annoy the hell out of me.
And as for Torrance being boring... Not IMHO

thecraw

I agree with you that Torrance is knowledgeable but I find his delivery and tone annoying. Just personal preference I guess. If you are looking for someone with an insight into the current crop of pro's (and who mixes with them every week unlike Torrance) then look no further than Richard Boxall.

Sharp, funny, well liked by the pros he has played most of the courses on the main European tour. I find Mr Torrance a typical BBC commentator, very much a "yes" man and not wanting to court controversy.

I will concede the point about Setanta and the ad breaks but I'm not sure what you mean by "mini eggs"

I knew exactly what he meant buy mini eggs!!

On the topic of boring commentators . If Lineker is hosting the masters im going to press mute and listen to it on the radio!!
