Played in the Seaford Seniors Open today, betterball stableford off 3/4's.
Really windy down here this morning, knew it was going to be tough as the course is a bit exposed to the elements.
I was playing off 10 my mate Ray was off 11. 18 points out, 19 back in for a 37 point total. We were in the first group out at 8.30am and were clubhouse leaders for a while, but were then chipped into 2nd place by a couple of guys with 39 points. Another couple of groups came in with 38 so we were just counted out of the prizes.
But really pleased with the way I played. Only messed up one drive (par 5 into the wind going for a big 'un and topped it about 100 yards up the fairway) but played a couple of decent recovery shots and just lipped out for my par.
Made a lovely birdie down the 9th, 185 out into a stiffish breeze and hit a raking 7 wood that almost went in, stopped about 3" from the hole.
Ray played really well as well, and like always there were a good couple or three points that we left out there.
But the rain kept off and the course was immaculate.
£34.00 each for coffee/bacon rolls, 18 holes with munchies at the 9th, and a lovely carvery lunch. Cushty.
Just warming up for Woodhall....
