Having not played very much in the last 18 months and not at all in the last 12 weeks, I'm going for a knock in the morning with my pops!

The thread, 'do you remember your first 18' has prompted a return to the place it all began. A quick blast on the putting green, range and then 9 holes ought to get me back into things.

Question though, Do you usually play well after a break? or do you forget what your meant to be doing?

I play better when I play regularly. Never played well after a break from the game, probably because I play better when I don't think and if I haven't played for a while, I think about everything

I started playing again a few weeks ago after a 3 year break (back problems, and loss of interest).
First time i picked a club up after returning to the game,i felt as if i'd never played, couldn't grip the club or build a stance.Had a couple of sessions on the range, and had a hack with my nephew and elder brother, which felt reasonable.
Joined a local club and played my first comp last saturday (off scratch as i have no handicap) i shot 82,but had a couple of silly holes, and 3 jabbed 4 times.Played again this evening,so i could put another card in for handicap purpose's,and played absolutely awful. The course was set up for tomorrows club champs, and the wind and rain were bad,but that still doesn't excuse the hooked and blocked tee shots, and missed putts that lead to 3 treble bogeys, and 5 double bogeys.I just couldn't do anything right.
Maybe i need another 3 year break ? :o :D

Well, my old man cried off due to the torrential rain, thunder and lightening... wimp. So maybe a couple of range sessions this week to see where I'm at!

Having had a reasonable break after quitting my membership last year, I started playing once a fortnight with a work colleague and my golf was great. I went back to basics so the game felt simple.

Instead of trying to groove a draw swing like I used to have, I played with the fade I had developed. As a result (and partly thanks to a certain Mr Willet) I could shape the ball both ways off the tee. very helpful!
