Played the Burntisland Open in Fife yesyerday, a course I have not played for some 22 years, boy has it changed some. A great course with tigh fairways and true running greens. Not a long course by any strech of the imagination but a tough course to play where 'local knowledge' plays a huge part. Luckily one of my fellow players was a member there and tried to give me some insider info on lines to take from the tee etc. Got off to a flyer, nearly holing my approach to the 1st and tapping in for a birdie 3, unfortunately from there it went downhill. too many poor choices of shot contributed to a string of bogeys with the occasional par thrown in. On the 18th tee (365 yard downhill par 4) I told my partners the last time I played the hole 22 years ago I scored a 2 holing out from 60 odd yards, my score this time ? a 9 !!!!!!, end result 86 nett 79.

Still touroughly enjoyed the day and a chance to play a good course for a mere £10. Will definately be back to play the course again and a little more wise on how to play the course, my aim is to beat my nett score in scratch.

Next weekend I have the Kirkcaldy Open on sat, a course where I played for 5 years as a junior, not played there for over 20 years again but really looking forward to it, remains the only course I have broken par on (68 off the par 70 yellow tees) however the small trees that used to line the fairways will now make it a much tougher test. On Sunday playing the open at Lochgelly, a course I have played 2 or 3 time recently, entry for both these comps ? £10 each - bargin!! Heres to a better score.

keyser, get down to thornton on the 16th for there open, tight fairways, fast greens, unlike that big wide open field up in glenrothes.
