Evening guys, I have had an iron fitting and the jpx pros came out on top however my best results were with a graphite shaft. so my question is whats your opinion on graphite shafts in irons......
For some reason im not sure???

If they work, go with them. There was a Cleveland fitter at the final today and he suggested a graphite shaft for me to try. As it happens the performance was not significantly different to the steel and the overall club felt a bit light to me be clearly he thought that it as worth a try.

By the way, loved the Cleveland CG16s, may be a purchase in the future expecially as they are generally on offer now.

I should really play with graphite shafts. I'd hit them a bit further and probably get improved trajectory/spin (?with faster clubhead speed?).....but I'd rather keep the steel I know and trust. The only graphite shafts I ever felt comfy with were stiff rated, which kind of ruins any advantage....

Not for me.

I have graphite shafts. Stiff in the woods. Reg in the irons. Love them but then I like the light feel, as if its all in the head. Mind you theres not much of me. You know all the old jokes. If you stuck your tounge out you would look like a zip fasterner. Well thats me.

I used to use graphite shafts. Loved them. The only thing I didn't like about them was that if you didn't use long headcovers on your irons, the shafts would mark up from bag rub. So I used head covers!
Went for a fitting at Mizuno a couple of years ago and the results showed that I was getting better dispersion rates with steel shafts so I went back to them in my MX200's and have them in my i15's. Don't really miss the graphites at all. Having said that, I did like the way graphite shafts made the clubhead feel "heavier" in comparison....seemed to help me get through the ball a bit better. Hmmm....might go back to them if I change my irons again :)

I used to use graphite shafts in my irons too. When I was fitted for my Mizunos I was told that they were too light for me, but I still needed a lighter than normal shaft so went with the lightweight 95g Nippons.

They work very well for me.

When I first started playing I was using a set of Trident irons with graphie shafts. Hated the feel and switched to my current irons as soon as I could afford.

Each to their own I suppose.
