I am genuinely devastated that the F1 is going to Sky next year... I have not missed a single Grand Prix in 20 years... I really dont want to give Sky my money to do so in the future.

I heard they were sharing coverage with the bbc.

BBC have some of the races and Sky have all of them. I would need to see all the races so I have to get Sky sports, I think it would be the same for most avid fans. :D

Although I have sky I only have what I want and as I dont like football I dont have the expensive sports package, its money I dont want to find for television.

Buy a pint down the boozer then, cheaper than sky and you aren't directly funding it.

Oh it is what it is, my hand is forced, I have to have the coverage. I could go to friends or the pub but I have to hear every word and see every turn of the wheel and that can only be done from home, its just a shame.

BBC Still get coverage of ALL the races, but only LIVE coverage for half of them.

Bit rubbish that BBC couldn't afford to keep it all, coverage has been the best it's ever been these last two years.

I have Sky Sports (for football, rugby, golf and american football) already, so it doesn't make a difference to me how I view it. Hopefully they will have the "no advert" thing for the race like they do in Football currently. Or at least keep it to the bare minimum.

Plus, the Pub thing doesn't always work since half the races aren't on at a proper time of day (unless it's the repeat)...And the races in the second half of the season will clash with the football coverage (which will always trump F1 in the pub)

Yea, it will be interesting to see.

Sounds like Jake Humphries might go to Sky.

I hope they do it right. They're usually bang on with their other live sports coverage, so I have every faith, but it's not something they've done proper before.

I have no need for sky, I watch about 5 hours of telly a week unless the golf is on. Most of that is just the cartoons before I go to work :D

I am slightly dissapointed as I enjoy watching the F1 on telly but maybe others (not me) will benefit from improved programming on the BBC due to extra cash?

I will probably just listen to it on the radio and watch the highlights instead if it is not on the BBC.

The only way I will get sky is if I have plenty of cash lying around each month, I have too many other things to save for or spend money on like my PC and golf.

I love the fact its going to be on sky, usually they give good coverage get decent pundits in. I have enjoyed the F1 on the BBC as it was extremely better than ITV. I am hoping now that sky will up the level again. Also I notice they are going to be showing the practice as well which I believe BBC didnt?

I suppose people without sky will have to wait and see which channel sky show it on as usually you can purchase skysports 1 and 2 on there own?

I am watching practice now, its on the red button on BBC.

if it is on say.. sky sports 1 for the 1st race will it stay like that all season, its that how they usually work it?

Not good news at all.

I've been refusing to have Sky on principle for years. Firstly because of Murdoch, and secondly because I refuse to pay to have adverts thrust in my face every ten minutes.

No doubt the beeb will use the money to make Eastenders a 7 day a week programme, or some other popularist drivel!

Perhaps Sky is my only option to be able to watch anything of interest to me. Having only Freeview, when I do get my hands on the remote after soaps, reality shows, hospital shows and inspector midsommer etc, I inevitably end up with Dave, Quest, Yeaterday and Film 4.

Ah right I didnt realise they showed it on the red button. Well what I mean is if the first one is on sky sports 3 or 4 then you know you cant get away with one channel. I would think it will go on Sky Sports 2 as usually most football and cricket appears on Sky Sports 1.

Or they could be clever and show every one thats on the BBC as well on Sky Sports 1 or 2, then when its a Sky only production put it on 3 or 4. So if people get into it they have to have the whole package.

Spot on. I am absolutely gutted. But my principles are strong. Sky can stuff it. Robbing barstewards.

Oh if only, got all flushed there for a sec :o

P.S apart from adverts SKY will have cameras in places the beeb would never dream of, you'll get a 'real' experience now in better HD than the beeb has
