Grand national

Who knows (not the name of a horse that I know of anyhow) but it is a spectacle (less of a one more recently) and given the races history one I really enjoy watching. I rarely like the build up to a sporting event, but this is an exception for me. Good luck with your wagers

Im still over my monthly deposit limit from cheltenham!! Wasnt a good week at the office, so i wont be backing any.

To me the Grand National is one of the great British sporting traditions. The organisers have done their bit to make the race safer from the PC and H&S brigade but will never satisfy all the complainers out there. But for sheer sporting spectacle and history, there is nothing like it. I still remember my grandfather putting 10p on Red Rum for me in 1973 and he became a five-year annual pocket money boost. I love watching some of the old races on YouTube leading up to Saturday's race and this will be my one-and-only gamble of the year. Long may it continue.

i used to have a great record in the 80s and early 90s when the GN only used to attract a handful of class horses and the rest were plodders running well out of the handicap which could safely be ruled out. Aldaniti was my first proper bet in the race, and between 1981 and 1992, I backed the winner 5 times.

Since the mid-90s, I have backed the winner once. It is now ultra-tough to even come up with a shortlist of 3 or 4. Most if not all of the runners are decent animals with good form, running off their proper mark. The last 5 winners started at 66/1, 33/1 twice and 25/1 twice.

I will have a bet on Saturday, but it will be minimum stakes and not a great deal of confidence.

I used to be more conscious of it when we all read papers and did sweeps at work or down the pub, not so much now.

The build up, if you actually come across it, is pretty flat now imo.

Haven't got a clue who's in it.

Really like the chances for "More Of That" at 14's (in from 20/1 since Monday) especially after JJ O'neal pulled out the fav Minella Rocco and put his best jockey on it.

1982 Grittar - I wrote a Grand National horse racing game on the school computer and when we ran the program 10 times, it had Grittar winning six of them. So we got the oldest biggest looking kid in the 6th form to go down the bookies to put some money on it. Monday morning, it's come in at 8-1 and I could have sold that program 100 times around the school.

Ha ha brilliant. What computer, a BBC or summat?

If anyones having a bet and has a bet365 account then they are doing their get half your money back promo again.

So say for eg a £10 ew bet which would cost £20 they automatically refund you £10 (upto £125 refunded)

I have 2 horses in the office sweep, Wounded Warrior and Last Samuri.

Should I get excited or a waste of £4?

Last Samurai came 2nd last year and has every chance again,

So....I'll blow all these winnings that are coming my way and if it doesn't win I'll say "Steve said........" :mmm:
