Hi

I am trying to buy a gift for my 28 year old brother. He has been playing golf for a year or so and has had made to measure callaway golf clubs, and most of the kit along with it and I would like to buy him something for his birthday in October.

I have seen some GPS technology devices, are they worth getting, and if so which one is recommended?

Thanks you in advance

I'm sorry to say there are a plethora of GPS devices on the market and so I guess it depends on your budget to a lrge degree. I use Sky Caddy and their SC5 model which is colour and around £260 although there is a £30 subscription on top as well). They do an SC2.5 model with a black and white screen for around £130-160 but again with the subscription.

I'm sure others will give you other makes and models although if I was in the market again I'd look at golfbuddy and sonocaddie.

Sky Caddie also do an SG3.5; this is essentially a colour version of the SG2.5 but it takes AA batteries, the others are rechargeable. It is priced somewhere between the two but for me the batteries make it a non-starter.

There have been lots of 'discussions' on this subject. these links may help (though there will be 'some' repetition.
