I bought a Golf Buddy platinuim from a major multi location Golf out let store in July ,its not been working properly for about 3 weeks ,not switching off...other functions not working properly, today it froze when i was going down the second hole of my golf course,in a comp.Took it back to the store to exchange it for a new one but i was told it would have to go back to the manufacturer to be checked and repaired, asked where the manufacturer was, they didnt know...came back and said Germany....i enquired how long to come back,,told how long is a ball of string...in the mean time the £300 i spent 3 months ago is in their bank and i have no GPS..anyone had similar experiences?and how long to get the GPS back..help please..I need to go and ask my OLD UNCLE SAM for some help....

Your contract is with the shop. NOT the manufacturer, The shop sold it to you and as it is clearly faulty they should replace it under the trades discription act. Dont let them muck you about. Go back and explain this to them nicely. If they still dont want to, start to get angry nice and loud(best to pick a busy day). If they say they are going to call the police. Just tell them good but to make sure its one who knows consumer law. YOU are in the right NOT them I've had to do it twice. Its sad when you have to make a fuss just to get your rights by law.

Name and shame them.

above is 100% spot on, if its faulty its down to the shop to deal with the manufacture, not you. The law basically goes along the lines that the customer should be pout through as less hassle as possible, and as such it should be the shop that do the running back and forth between the manufacture... not you.

I'd be a bit careful before doing this. Most places will try to repair under waranty before even thinking about replacing. If the shop has to send it back to the manufacurer for repair I think you'll find their within their rights to do this.

Sorry Twire you are wrong there. If the op had had it for 12 months they may get away with it. But only 3 months it is not fit for perpose. So refund or replacement is needed. Consumers need to start sticking up for there rights.
