I think I've finally decided that the mars100 gps is due for replacement , it's very reliable and accurate but it's not fitting the bill for what I require now. So.... The criteria.

A) must have no subscriptions of fees to download courses.
B) in addition to f/m/distances, I require a birds eye view for the hole, with distances to hazards such as bunkers, ditches etc, and ideally carry distances if for example I was carrying a dogleg and so on.
C) must be rechargeable

So come on guys, what have you hot that fits the bill, so far one I've seen is a golf buddy platinum.

I did consider a lazer, but if I'm honest I'm not as steady as I'd need to be to get an accurate distance, I tried the hillman but after two rounds it went back up for sale.

Bushnell very good for a shakey hand

What is your budget ?

I have a Upro, now Callaway are ending support for these but they are a good GPS and can be had for around £50.

Might be worth looking into

That was an option, why are Cally ending support?

the official line is it isnt a core business and they are focussing on their core businesses (clubs, balls, apparel etc). As a UPro owner pretty hacked off with their stance and if I was you I would buy elsewhere (effectively the Upro receives no updates after Spetember i think it is so you wont be able to add courses or get updates if your home course changes)

I have the golf buddy platinum and whist I think it's a good piece of kit I find the screen is hard to see in sunlight. Don't know how others find it.
