Got to love the logic of FIFA.

Ban Barcelona from signing players for 2 Transfer windows.
Suspend the ban pending an appeal letting Barcelona sign £153 Million pounds worth of new players.
Reinstate the ban.
Have the reinstated ban not start until 2015 just in case there was anyone that they have not yet signed in the current transfer window.

Way to go FIFA, that is how to punish a team.

Solved......all above board......

In a world where the F1 boss can buy his way out of bribery charges, nothing at top level sport really surprised me any more.

More and more there seems to be a implicit and sometimes explicit collusion to ensure the top teams that draw the biggest TV audiences and are therefore more attractive to sponsors, go as far as possible in major competitions, whether it be the Champions League or the World. The draws are less draws and more an exercise for ensuring the top teams don't have to play anyone especially difficult until the later rounds.

Plus the big teams will be treated very favorably, as if not they will just rekindle the old threat of forming a breakaway European competition.

Just for a change (extremely rare!), I'm actually on FIFA's side for this one!

Had the Barcelona Appeal been successful, they (FIFA) would have been in a potentially very dodgy position about restricting Barca's activity unjustly. They still have the punishment imposed, just for a different 'window'. It could still change if appeal to CAS succeeds. Similar action has been known to happen over Red Card Appeals before important matches.

It was CAS that reduced the sanctions on Suarez, not FIFA.
