For the first time in around 10 years I have an official handicap again. Rounds of 88, 84 and 83 have given me 12.6.

Now to try and get a good few comps in for the rest of the season and see if I can get down a shot or two

Initial handicaps are whole numbers, rather than exact 12.6. Have you enabled an inactive handicap?
In all honesty I'm not sure, When I last had a handicap I think it was 12 but was on the higher side of 12 so may have been up at 12.6 after a couple of bad rounds. It had lapsed when I gave up my membership and I hadn't played any competitions in a few years.
Either way the SSS for the 3 rounds was 71 for the 88 and 70 for the other 2 so seems reasonable either way

It's not an average these days it's the best of the 3 rounds after any trebles are reduced to doubles.

Great work start again from Where you left off!

Inactive for 10 years?

Another case of handicap committees making their own rules?

surely this is entirely feasible?

misleading title to the thread though - he's always had the handicap.

we certainly have members who have had such handicap situations.

My two statements were not linked to each other. We also have players who have had inactive handicaps for many years - it's not unusual for players to be allocated a handicap only to realise they don't want to play in competitions. I do think 10 years is a bit long although it seems the OP had given up membership, together with his handicap.

The other statement concerned the initial allocation that wasn't a whole number.
