I have taken a while and cost a lot of cash but i have my idea 14 clubs, driver 913, irons 712u 2 iron ap2 714 3 to gw. 54 degree and 58 degree vokey, newport 1.5 putter. My question is what to do with the 3 wood i got i never use it off the fairway because i can get a bad fade so i use the 2 iron, the only use i would get from it is off the tee if my driving starts to wobble but that would push me over the limit with clubs shall i sell it or keep it if i fall out of love with the driver? an emergency off the tee club seems stupid to drop a wedge for

I would keep it , if you having trouble with the Driver then you replace it with the 3 wood or I go Driver , 3 W ,2 iron then 4 to GW or drop the 2 iron and go 3 to GW , I prefer 2 the 4 to GW as that's what I did , the 3 iron is more or less the same yardage as a 5 wood , its only the flight plus its easier to hit a 5 wood from the rough , I know you not mention the 5 wood but that's another option ..................................EYG

You can't hit a 3 wood but you can hit a 2 iron?

I would have thought the other way round and maybe sell the 2i ?

Ok mark seriously, lose the 2 iron & the 3 wood, get a 4 or 5 wood.

Very few on the forum, myself include ( exceptions being swinger & d4s) have the swing speed/ball striking to justify a 2 iron.
Change your sig, I thought you had a big cut, celebrate it:thup:

my 2 iron is the best club in my bag, love hitting it off the fairway since i dropped the 3 wood off the fairway and use 2 iron i have dropped 5 shoots off my handicap. maybe 15 yards shorter than 3 wood but 50 yards straighter

In summary.
You are happy with your clubs, in particular the 2i.
You only want the 3w as an alternative to driver but don't currently need it.
You hit the 2i only 15 yards shorter than the 3w and get a lot more use from it.
Since stopping trying to take on shots with the 3w you have dropped 5 shots of your HC.
You don't want to drop a wedge to make room for a 3w

Reading the above summary do you have any ideas?

Get a hybrid, If I struggle with my driver I use my 20* g20 hybrid off the tee.
Lose a reasonable bit of distance but I usually have more chance (only slightly haha) of being on the fairway.

Stick the 3W in a cupboard.

If not used by late August. sell it. You might then be able to afford the Pro Vs you say you can't in your sig - but why bother as the ball you are using now is giving results!

Seems the 'gs' part of your handle is starting to mean 'Gun Slinger'!

How can buying another club be the answer???? heheh the dude says hes happy and should he keep the 3 wood. :)

Mark, sell it, you don't love it, you love the 2 iron so your not likely to change back.... unless you are.. maybe keep it for a while then sell it if it does not beg to come back.

I use my 3 wood for some of our shorter par 4s, two of them have dog legs and the other has a slope at the end of the fairway so nicer to be a little further back on the flat. Seems your 2i deals with that.

Because everyone likes new clubs! :swing:

Will you ever use it or do you have zero confidence in it. If you don't like hitting it and the ball flight isn't what you want then unless you want to invest time getting to grips with it at a range then I'd lose it. Personally I'd keep it but there again I'd never dream of carrying or using a 2 iron. For me, the 3 wood is an ideal tool for tight courses where position is key
