On Monday gone.I havent got a proper handicap yet at my local club will hopefully be putting cards in next few weeks.I expect I will get 28 handicap.
Anyway playing in my 1st works society comp on Monday gone at goswick.....in pairs....thought I would be on the highest society handicap (22) but was cut to 17 (something about 3/4 Stableford rule). So my mate and myself both off 17 and the other pair off 7 (9 handicappers ).we got 33 points between us only 3 points behind the other pair with us.The winners got 40 points.
Did we do ok?
I was a bag of nerves on the 1st tee...and it didnt help seeing the 9 handicappers hitting beauty 3 woods around 220-250 (I'm guessing) Was last off the tee but hit my drive slightly right around 180 on the fairway.RELIEF.
Took a 5 on the hole to get the 1st points on board.Absolutely buzzing.Playing on adrenelin early on before reality kicked in and I started to struggle mid game then pulled back well towards the end.
My 1st links game what a new experience, ball bouncing on the fairways and greens rather fast.Trying to avoid bunkers on the fairways was more or less a new experience. My best shot was an elevated tee par 3 100 yards pitched down to 4 foot off the pin, found it amusing that the 3 experienced golfers never made the green, all in tough rough.Never went OOB and only on rough just off fairway 3/4 shots. It was very tough at times especially halfway round and was my 3rd game in 4 days so thought that was catching up with me,but I stuck at it and pulled through.
So pleased I have played my 1st works society game after thinking I would be out of my depth beforehand.
Roll on the next game.........at my course next week!

Cheers Kev
