I have recently come across this course which is a links gem 5miles south of berwick upon tweed in northumberland.....an absolute gem, great course, great greens and it has recently been awarded Open pre qualifying by the R and A which speks volumes for it. In my opinion it is better than the likes of Dunbar Gullane North Berwick Lundin Links etc and only £32 a round which is a steal.
Has anyone else come across this gem?

Am due to go there in October with a group of guys from my club. Looking forward to it even more now as I've played all the courses you've listed. Playing Bamburgh while we are there.

Costs are great at that time of year;-

Goswick will cost £37 for 36 holes including coffee and biscuits on arrival and soup and sarnies at lunch.

Bamburgh will cost £45 for the same.

Good old winter green fees!!

That's really interesting Dodger because we are featuring Goswick next month in our Local Knowledge UK Courses section - highlighting it's status as a real gem.

Great to hear about your experience there.

You will enjoy both john but Bamburgh not in the same league as goswick, lovely veiws but too short and too many tricked up blind holes but that said it is always good condition.Cant believe the prices, should be the other way on, that is a real bargain for goswick but not so for bamburgh.

played Goswick during the real wet spell, other courses in the area were closed but Goswick was in excellent condition. Real gem of a course, a must play if you in the Berwick-upon-Tweed area.

Just back from playing Goswick twice on Thursday and it lived up to expectations. Cracking course. Played a 3 ball Texas Scramble in the morning (scored 66) and an individual stableford in the afternoon (37 points) so I was very happy. James Braid design. Some lovely holes and the wind keeps you honest. Great hospitality at the club and the best vegetable soup ever! Highly recommended.

Played Bamburgh Castle on Friday too. Spectacular views (some of the best I've seen) but many blind tee shots which a few of our party didn't like. I thought it was great fun but you definitely need a course guide. Only 5645 yards off the whites but it felt like 8000 because of the topography. Shot a 76 (8 over) first time and the Texas Scramble in the afternoon was great fun. Wouldn't fancy playing it in a strong breeze though! And unfortunately the soup and sandwiches were inedible! Well worth the visit .....if you take a packed lunch!
