Privatisation of the Royal Mail...

Think this indicates the end of one tier pricing to all parts of the UK...

I am old enough to remember when you could expect [and got] a good service from 'the post'... Can't really think of any of the other privatised 'services' where things have improved... Downhill from now on I believe...

It's been coming for a long time. I left in '93 as they had set up PO Counters, Parceforce and RM Letters in readiness for the sell off. Part I worked in was partly hived off shortly afterwards and became a facilities company called Romec. I'm just surprised that it has taken this long to finally come to a head.

well finally Pat Clifton will get the sack i think. he has been a liability for some years. Take today for example, had a "special delivery" of a piano, how he managed to mess it up so badly i will never know! ok, luck was not on his side with a puncture, but getting the local mechanic to ride it down a hill, into a muddy field then on to a home made railway push cart is just a step too far in my opinion. I for one hope the organisation that take over will run performance reviews of all employees, there is too much "dead wood" floating around RM in my opinion.

Pay cuts, pension cuts and streamlining imminent.

Without trying to offend anyone, it's about time as well.
As a hard working bloke in the private sector I'm fed up of seeing council/government workers taking the micky out of the system.
Huge broad stroke obviously but I'm sure some may see where I'm coming from ;)

There's fax plus email on mobiles.laptops,ipads, etc.etc. Can there really be a future for the Royal Mail using a system that is little different from the stagecoach era?

LOL!

But that would make the theme tune a but different;

Ex postman Pat, ex postman pat and his black and white cat. Early in the morning, the dole office is calling, Pat feels he's a very depressed man.
