We're off to Spain later this year and the kids are wanting to get a camera that they can use while going down the water slides and for snorkelling etc. Have been doing a bit of research and while I don't want to spend an absolute fortune I equally don't want to buy something cheap and rubbish that will give poor videos. Have almost decided on a GoPro Hero 9 Action camera.....

so that gives an idea of the price I'm looking at, but just wondered if anyone had an alternative suggestions before I pull the trigger.

I’d be tempted to look on EBay for a 2nd hand Go-Pro. The clarity of a 5k Go Pro is stunning.

EDIT: just opened the link you posted. If you can afford it, go for it. If you’re unhappy with it, move it on.

Don't gopros have horrible wide angle lenses that distort horizontal lines? Or are they better now?

https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/buying-guide-best-waterproof-cameras is a bit old now but you can look at actual photos taken with the cameras. I'm a bit out of touch with the current crop and don't have the patience to google around on this slow, hotel wifi!

They all have different lense modes, you can go for a linear mode that removes the fish eye type effect.
