Just want to say what a pleasure it was playing with Josh (Cheifi0) his brother Wes and mate Dave today. It was a pleasure to enjoy their company at what is a fantastic little hidden gem in California.

If if your coming to California with the intention of playing golf you have to give Goose Creek a go. $57 (£40ish) including buggy for a fantastic 18 holes of golf. The greens where like putting on a billiard table and they still took a well struck mid iron. Every hole was different from winding doglegs to hitting 170 carries over water. Little bit of local knowledge would be good as hitting driver every tee is not the way round this course.

The 18th is a card wrecking monster of a finishing hole too at 466 to the front of the green, water starting at 200 yards all the way down the right of a 30 yard wide fairway, with the green tucked behind it, meaning a big carry over water for most if trying to get on in 2.

They even have a grass driving range with real balls and real greens to hit your wedges at.

Adey,

Can only see one pic and its got blue skies and it looks warm so not jealous at all :D

theres something wrong with the sky in the pics plus the grass is the wrong colour also.

How on Earth do you play in these conditions.

Hi Adey, finally back from hols and I feel like I need another just to recover! Was great meeting up and had great time playing. As Adey has said the course was brill, it had an interesting lay out and was in great condition. The greens were fairly quick and very true and if you managed to hit the greens they were actually quite receptive which was a surprise. The pace of play was also pretty decent I think it was around 4 15 after hearing horror stories of round pushing past 5 and a half.

Later on in San Diego we played at Maderas Golf course which is Troon owned. We got it at a bit of a discount as they had punched the greens a week earlier so it was $75. It's set in the mountains/hills near San Diego which is pretty stunning. As you would expect from a Troon course the conditioning was fantastic and the practice facilities were top notch. The layout it self was great, slightly tougher than Goose Creek if slightly unfair. I hit a drive up a par 4 but leaked it slightly left, it rolled off a mound and caught the cart path and managed to roll 100 yards backwards. Great weather yet again added to another very enjoyable round.

I will stick some pictures up at the weekend when I get chance.
