I'm really struggling to get my head around this, I understand the basic idea and what it is but, I've got 2 (well 3 actually) of the little buggers and I'm confused to what people see or get invited to and who see's my posts, if anyone?

It looks at face value that I have a personal Google+ associated with my personal email and that all seems pretty straight forward with a few members on here following me, I think it was linked through the blog I was doing and I can find people to follow, no doubt through my email/phone contacts.

Then, when I go into my business email inbox page (gmail) and click on my little logo photo (top right corner) and then click on Google+ Profile, I go to a Google+ page named Robin Hopkins with nothing in/on it other than a cover photo, BUT, if I then click Home on the left side of the drop down menu, it goes to my business 'Render Properties UK' and shows all the public posts I've been making in there!

So, how do people find my business postings, is it only associated to my name which has nothing posted? How do I invite people to follow my business or find it organically?

Believe me I've read all there blurb for many an early morning before posting this but the confusion is the 2 accounts within my business email account and knowing which one is the one people can find?

Just to add to the confusion, if I'm in my business email inbox page and I go to the little box of squares in the top right corner and select Google+, that takes me direct to my Render Properties Google+ page/account, so why are there 2?

If, as I assume (scary word), that the 1 with my name is my main Google+ account and my business one is a page created off that, which one do people find and get directed to?

I've just managed to follow myself which has completed blown me away now

Wouldn't bother Robin, Facebook, twitter and LinkedIn are where it's at. I don't know a sole that uses Google+...

I toyed with it relating to a smartwatch that I have, people upload new faces for me to add to my watch. I tried to get into the rest of Google + but it left me totally confused and so I gave up. It needs to be simple and user friendly, it isn't. Rooter is correct, those other social media options are better and more widely used. Google have got this wrong.

As you probably have gathered, I'm well on my way with the 3 platforms you mention, although I haven't actually 'posted' yet on LinkedIn but will start today as I'm all set up on it.

I was just thinking outside the box and thought that by using Google+ it would help my website ranking and visibility, which is crucial with a new business venture, and especially as it's their own toy I'd have thought they'd give it some ranking preference!

Confused with a capital 'C' and I think your both right.

Every time you create Google Account, a Google+ profile is created and linked to that account automatically. They're separate profiles so I'm guessing you've created the business account after your personal one.

If you don't want the Google+ profile on business account, login using your businesses Google Account, go to https://plus.google.com/settings?hl=en_GB

Scroll to the bottom and there's a link to delete the Google+ profile associated with your logged in account. Just be careful not to login as your personal one and delete that by accident.

It's a complete mess, and yeah, just delete the whole lot. Nobody uses Google+ :)

It is worth trying to get onto a course, lots of free ones, even pay someone for an hour of their time, to get a full understanding of how each of these bits of social media work. They are different and you need to treat them differently. To get the best out of them you need to understand them. Speak to your local UKTI or whatever the govt agency is near you. It is worth the effort as otherwise you are putting effort in that may not produce anything.

Been posting 'updates' on LinkedIn for a short while but I've just noticed there seems to be a difference between sharing an update which I do publically and 'publishing' something, what's the difference?

I just happened to notice the publish button and was surprised it stated I hadn't published anything and yet I have posted 12 'share an update' posts?

Being told to ignore Google is not good advice if you want to be found in google!

I use Gplus as you can bounce youtube vids into it automatically, you can have those repost to twitter automatically, you can share to many fb groups very quickly with a link to a specific section of Gplus, showing vids.

Really if you set up to automate as much as possible, you can have it filling up with content without really having to work it.

I use a lot of different software for social media efforts i use a paid version of Postcron i think there is a free version for light users..

It will allow you to tweet, fb, gplus, linked in messages with the push of one button, then you simply ensure they are all linked using IFTT.com and you can save a tonne of time on social media.

I like outlook and linkedin much better. Feel like Gmail and Facebook force me to connect with almost all of my contacts. if i refused, they will remind me anytime.
Google + even share all your activity from youtube, sometimes without your knowledge, that's dangerous when your circle are business partners. Lols
