Just read an article in the local rag today saying that Scottish Government officials have carried out an equality impact assessment on the Neolithic sites in Orkney, in particularly the Ring of Brodgar which is a ring of standing stones. This assessment reportedly cost £10,500.00 of our tax money and the conclusion that they came to? "This site presents no immediate threat to gay people or other minority groups"

Despite belonging to neither of the above groups I could have told them that for nothing.

Read about the heritage aspect of these sites but never visited them myself. £10,500 sounds a lot (but not as much as £10,500.00) and probably a complete waste of our money but when you think of the money thrown away in all deparments of government it's sadly nothing. A years Taxi ride to a local school for a single child at our expense in some cases. Sorry to get political. :(

they spend that much on a report and get ' no immediate threat'?
what do they think a 4000 year old site is going to do that it hasn't already done?
