Played by third handicap round yesterday. Previous rounds were a 101 and 84 on a par 68 course. Yesterday i hit a 97 but am gutted because after eight holes i had only had 37 strokes. Anyway hit short drive on the 508yds par 5 9th tee, hit a 3 wood to the 200yd marker and then went out of bounds. However, this was not just any O.B. this was 30-40yds straight past the green. Couldn't see until i walked up to the green so had to run back to the original place and take a drop. Well of course i aimed left because of my left to right ball striking and this time hit a dead straight hybrid into the left trees eventually hit my 2nd drop straight at the green but short. Walked of with a 10. I followed this up with a 9 on the par 4 10th by hitting yet again another straight hybrid which caught the trees on the left. After a few more angry holes i managed to get back to pars and bogeys for the last 5 holes.
All in all the only straight shots i hit without the driver all day went either long into O.B or into trees and hazards because i had aimed left a fraction due to left-right ball flight.
I suppose a slightly higher handicap will come down eventually and will benefit me when i play well until it does.
