Popped into my local Nevada Bobs outlet yesterday.... Very similar to AG...... There's a couple of friends working for them..... Anyway there is a Ping open day at the end of the month for Custom fitting and they persuaded me to stick my name down......Its free......
As a lot of you have had experience of these, Is it a good idea to do it?
My Pro is a Ping qualified Fitter also but charges 100 euro's for fitting which is deducted from clubs if you buy them from him.....

Now i hit my wilsons well......As i do my Titleist woods..... And i know when im off its me and not the clubs.....
But what would i gain from this?

Is it worth it just to see what shafts i would need.... And then match these shafts to my own wilsons.... Or does it work like that.?

I can't see that fitting with a ping club head would definitely give you the ideal shaft to then combine with the Wilsons. Surely both club head designs have completely different properties so ideal launch etc given by the shaft during ping fitting wouldn't necessarily translate over.

No harm in trying them out to see how they compare but if the pings are better you won't be able to resist parting with a few quid. Unless your looking to change you might be wise to steer clear.

If you want Pings, OK. But as a general exercise in trying shafts not so much. Some of the Ping shafts, and the ones commonly seen on the shelf, are made for Ping shafts which you won't easily find for other brands. Better to go to a pro shop with Mizuno Swing DNA and three swings later you will have a decent idea.

That's 1 way to eliminate time-wasters!

As for the free fitting, I don't see much point unless you are considering Pings.

The Head/shaft combination is important not specifically one or the other. And Ping have 'made for Ping' shafts too.

If you do eventually fecide to go Ping, you could go thru your Pro an request the 100 euros discount as the fitting isn't needed!:D

The future is Ping. Wish I'd swapped to the ages ago. More distance and more forgiveness. Playing with more confidence and once I get rid of the one silly hole per round will be flying. If you are thinking of a change Ping is a great choice. I found the stock shafts were actually better than the others I tried but of course it depends on your own swing

How you getting on with so much offset?

Personally I stay away from these now unless I am looking to change. I have been to a few at our local driving range which is also a golf shop.

My view is that if you are in the mood for a change and have the cash then its a good thing to go to try out different things to see what works.

If you are playing well with your current stuff or not ready for a change (or just dont have the cash at the moment) you could come out feeling that you could improve if you bought new and it will niggle at you.

On the other hand if you have the cash and do jump in (I have previoulsy) you may find that you are regretting it later on, I did - lol.

After all they are designed to tempt you to buy.

I think i may pass on the opinions above fella's......
Looking at things now... I hit my own irons well...... Everyone that picks them up comment on how heavy they feel.... DG S300's with the Wilson FG forged heads......I dont find them too heavy anymore...Guess im used to the weight now and it also keeps my tempo smooth.....
Iv been hitting the driver and my woods really well the past few months also.....
Had a buffer finish yesterday after throwing away shots on 4 holes....
Played open singles today and turned with 22 points... 2 over Gross.....
Took 16 poiunts off the back nine for 38 points...Messed up 2 holes i had no shot on and finished with 2 bogies down to bad putts.....But i was striking the irons very well and was driving the ball very well.....

So i think going on the above replies it might be foolish to change......

Just look at the last Wilson staff professional who decided to tweek things when it was going well ;)

I know Pal....

What astounds me is the amount of low single figure lads that i know and 2 of my mates that play off scratch are playing with irons that are 7,8,9 years old and they have never been Custom Fitted...... Kind of makes you wonder a little.:mmm::mmm:
