At some point during a round everyone has some luck or some sort bad or good and everyone knows someone who is the luckiest, unluckiest player known to man.

I play my weekend comps with Kraxx and Hacker. Kraxx has to be the luckiest golfer I know, he must have been a tree in a previous life. A wild shot into the trees will invariably have the ball end up back on the fairway, have at least with a shot that can advance the ball without issue, or if in the trees the trees will help him. Two examples; One - Tee shot into the trees, goes to play a second, full swing hits the tree front right, ball comes back at a pace hits a tree behind him and ricochets forward onto the fairway; Two - Pulls fairway shot way left, looks like ball is going to be deep in the woods, no, it had hit a tree back to front centre of the green, he then sinks putt for eagle. Lucky very lucky

Me on the other hand, I must have been a lumberjack in a previous life, as if I go in the trees, I end up behind a tree with no shot forward, under a tree with no swing, I played a shot out of a bunker last weekend, I hate bunkers, but this one shot was a corker, except it hit the sprinkler on the green side and came backwards, same hole a few weeks previous, chipped on over the bunker hit the same sprinkler cover which sent the ball over the green and off the opposite side. Absolutely zero luck on the course.

I know the saying is you make your own luck, or you have to believe to be lucky, but it seems some are just a lot luckier than others.

I try and go with the flow when it comes to luck as I feel it evens itself out over a period of time. Today I hit a really good drive down the middle only to find it in the only deep divot as far as the eye could see. Later, I hit a drive into the trees only to find it, a la Tashyboy, well on the fairway, and before our regular forum idiot asks for proof, evidence or written confirmation I spotted it in less than five minutes.

why would anyone want proof? odd.

I smoked a drive down the middle of the fairway on a very downhill hole. Walk down the fairway, find my playing partners balls and mine was no where to be found.

NR as it was a good 350+ yards uphill to the tee.

Now that is horrible luck.

Because you've openly called someone a cheat and jumped to a conclusion and when he gave his side of the story you chastised him further so people are now feeling as though they need to defend their actions in response to your idiocy :)

Indeed very bad luck, nowt worse than knowing you've hit a great shot, you've watched the flight, seen it land and yet when you walk up to where you saw it land the ball is no where to be seen.

When I had my five min round last week a PP smashed his ball up the fairway on our ninth. It was bunker bound, it had the oddest bounce you could imagine and bounced over. Thing is he is Hitler in the bunkers ( two shots) and your out.
He scrambled two points.
On our 11th he has two shots on a par four and knobbed it all the way to the side of the green, topped it and it was flying off the green, til hit hit my ball and stopped stone dead, 5ft from the pin. He walked off with is two point. He was lucky that day.
It always makes me smile whether I do it or a PP does it when a ball is driven into trees, it is quickly followed by "Thats lost " then two, three, four seconds later it bounces back out into view, how many ricochets has it had ?

Had that happen a few times on the Faldo course in the Algarve, put it straight down the middle and there's run offs into bunkers when the balls goin down the middle. It was infuriating.

probably you should look to include all the other with the same opinion.
