Good evening Ladies and Gents,

My names Jack, 28 just got back into golf over the past month or so after not playing in around 4-5 years. (enjoying it although the weather has been pap!).

I have a set of Wilson Fat Shafts (3-PW) and a Wilson Deep Red driver, thinking about adding either a 4w or a 3 and a 5, or maybe a hybrid?! opinions?

I've invested in a decent (I hope decent) waterproof jacket, off of fleebay A Proquip waterpoof, with sky sports embroidered on it, quite pleased with it.

Now, I need advice on balls and gloves, I like a hard ball that "clicks" off the putter, but a nice distance ball, opinions?

And a new glove, again, any advice welcome.

Hope everyone is well this evening!

Jack.

Welcome bud, you are similar to me as I started playing in my late twenties and wish I had started as a nipper but went down the Football and Cricket route unfortunately and regretted it for years. Glove - any Footjoy will be fine for starters. Ball - Any decent brand will be fine but some on here say Callaway balls are hard so maybe try those

Cheers for the welcome guys!

Pay day tomorrow, picking up a callaway cart bag tonight, a power trolley tomorrow, might grab some Callaway balls too, although I think the old man has a few kicking about I might "borrow".
I have also seen a TaylorMade "Rescue club for sale near me for £35....what the verdict on these?

Cheers.

Great shouts on Pinnacle Gold and Callaway (try the warbirds).

Welcome and enjoy. Plenty of forum meets on here so you shouldn't be stuck for a game.

Welcome to the nut house, my preference in glove is a srixon cabretta leather glove, their sizing seems to fit me best. As for balls anything you play in this cold wet weather is going to chink off the club face, so at the moment anything will do.

Welcome

Re gloves i've found the full Cabretta leather style are mince and easily destroyed in a round if you don't have a model grip

The all-weather variety are much more durable & forgiving (personal fav is the Callaway all weather and will last many rounds)

... did I really just apply a forgiveness rating to a golf glove

How's it going Jack, welcome along.

Taylor Made cabretta leather gloves for me - silky smooth ;)

Not sure you need to add a hybrid if you've got a 3i but I might be wrong. Something to sit between driver and 3i is a good idea, though, whether it's a 3w, 4w or 5w. Go to a pro shop or range, try a few out and pick the one(s) you like.

I have my eye on a Nike 4W but as you say I might go and have a play with a few and see which one I actually like.

I like the idea of 2 gloves, and see Nike have some out, I'm swaying towards Calaway gloves too....
