Had my best round today and in a competition as well.

We had the Monthly stableford on the Roman Road course (sss70) and I hit 39 points and a gross score of 81 nett 67 with a couple of sand saves and a couple of birdies. What pleased me most though was it's the first time I've kept a six off the card. Now can I continue it the next time I go out?

That's good going squire keeping 6's off your card is definitely the way to good golf. I thought I had done a good job of this when I had parred all the par 5s last time out and only had bogeys on the par 4s. I then proceeded to make 2 doubles on remaining par 4s meaning I had 2 of the bleeders!

I'm guessing the course is pretty difficult off the competition tees as well so very well done, and as ever good luck reproducing the form.

Thats pretty good shooting. I had nothing on so went out late this afternoon on my own. The chipping was better but the pitching is still hit and miss. I'll either stiff it or shank it and both swing feel exactly the same. Putter was stone cold but my long game was in excellent knick. Didn't keep score and was playing two balls so really just an on course practice session

On the 2nd hardest hole I missed a 1 ft putt for birdie and had 4 other chances for par from 1-2 ft and missed all of them. Hoping for a better day tommrow.

So you missed 5 times from less than 24 inches! Book a putting lesson with your pro or go to Specsavers.

My eyes are fine, just after the first one (2nd hole) I lost all my confidence. After the round I handed my card in a when straight onto the putting green, holed every single putt from 4 ft and in. Just need to chill tonight and have another go tomorrow. If not then its lesson time.

My putting today was an absolute shambles. I was hitting loads of greens in regulation, but letting myself down with 3 and even 4 puts. Absolutely no confidence with teh flat stick. Time for a new one? Ha!

Eaglehunter,

Sorry this reply is late but just got in from Cardiff after a few apple juices from Bulmers.
It was off the yellow tees as the whites aren't in comps until April, but the sss70 is for the yellows.

Still, very happy with it.
