Play socially and not a member of any club so don't submit cards for an official handicap. I use golfshot which yesterday said my handicap was 12.0 and today says 11.6. How 'realistic' is this, I haven't played since Sunday. Last 3 rounds were 12 over, 8 over and 4 over par.

it would depend on what your course SSS are for the round s you play, handicap is calculated of that not par

Define realistic?? ,
if you mean do you think you could enter a proper open and play to 12 probably not IMO.
Your scores/handicap are calculated outwith the pressures of medal play golf which IMO makes a big difference.
While I understand you just want to play golf socially and have a bit fun playing the game, that's great but unofficial handicaps are just that, unofficial and don't mean much, again IMO. While you seem to be scoring well in your last three rounds and may well be able to play to or around 12.

When youvplay socially do you play with proper medal rules. White Tees, no gimmies, play everything out and not pick up on a bad hole, no dropping a ball in the fairway if you loose one in the woods. I'm not suggesting you do that but if you want to measure your true handicap then you should be doing under the correct conditions of play.
