Reflecting back on the past year I was just wondering if anybody had some golf related injuries?

Last May I was playing at a certain club and took a 3wd to the face whilst in the practice nets. I was at the very far edge of the path that lead from the nets to the clubhouse, to my right was a flowerbed and to my left, the nets. A highly dangerous area. So I couldn't go right (unless I had prior warning of the impact, and if I did I wouldn't have been hit :D) In total I had 6 stiches in my forehead and turned my nice yellow mizuno carry bag orange. And it apperantly wasn't the first time it had happend there.

I didn't persue the matter for two reasons: Firstly it looked worse than it was because of all the blood, and secondly seeking any further action wasn't worth the hastle. Although they did offer me a free round as I didn't get to play the course.

I walked behind someone, as they took a practice swing with their driver. Lucky they have a slow back swing. As it was, it mashed my lower lip so that my teeth cut a hole in it (the lip, not the driver). No lasting damage, but a ridiculous amount of claret, and what is worse, no after round pint, as the alcohol made the bleeding worse, and stung like heck.

I'm afraid I can't boast any golfing injuries, touch wood.

17 years of mountain biking? Now, that's another story! :p

Playing the 14th at my club (before I joined) I had just teed off and was starting to move off the tee towards the fairway when without warning a ball from the 13th came over the hedges and smacked me right in the middle of my back, knocking me to the ground. My playing partner went through the gap in the bushes to confront the culprits on my behalf, they were very apologetic (doesn't excuse the fact of no warning call). As I had the wind taken out of me and couldn't carry on they paid for both of us on a future date.

In this day and age of blame culture I didn't even think of suing etc, I'm not that kind of person (accidents hapen)

I stacked it in a bunker spraining my ankle and have took a massive chunk out of my arm on a flint once, again after stacking it.

Was playing a society day last june when one of my 4-ball creamed one against a tree which came back and hit him in the jacobs. That was funny, real funny and im wetting myself thinking about it.

I have seen someone get hit on the arse with a ball, that hurt, also a member at gillingham went for a pee in the bushes and an unfortunate gust of wind caused his gentials some problems with a few stinging-nettles. I would have paid to see that!

a friend of mine took a ball in the eye from an errant drive!! Luckily he was just turning away, otherwise if it had been straight at him he would have seriously damaged his face

Only recent one I can think of was in the October Medal. Coming up 17 I was under a long low tree and punched a 5 iron out low and running. Tweaked a tendon n my right hand.

We have a couple of narrowish bridges over streams and a few years ago one of the loudest members slipped on one and broke his leg. They couldn't carry him as he's a big guy so the ambulance had to weave its way down to the furthest part of the course to get him.

We've had cows on the greens and once a Hot Air Balloon chose the 2nd fairway to land.

No injuries but a bloomin close call. Tee'd off at A muni last year, thinned the driver (dont know how) and the ball hit the womens tee and flew back towards me. I had to hit the deck to avoid being hit. Yes I had to play my second from 40 yards behind where I tee'd off. And er yes I did have to do the traditional honours

Worst injury I've sustained?

Played 36 holes at Mannings Heath once (lovely course in West Sussex).
Finished the first 18, went into the clubhouse for lunch. Had a nice mixed grill, and having a sweet tooth fancied a pud (I always like a pud!).
Asked the waitress what deserts were left, she came back and said they had fresh fruit salad or one raspberry mousse left. So I plumped for the mousse.
She brought it out, looked lovely served up in a tall glass topped off with lovely whipped cream.
I took a great big spoonful and popped it in, was just about to swallow and I got the most awful taste in my mouth. I was nearly sick.
I spat it back out, and my mates wondered what the hell was happening. I couldn't work it out at first, and called the girl back over to explain something wasn't right.
She took the mousse back out into the kitchen and 30 seconds later came out to apologise.
The trainee chef had got the bloody piping bags mixed up in the fridge and had topped the bloody mousse off with mayonnaise, not whipped cream...
I bloody hate mayonnaise at the best of times, and the mere fact that I was now aware of what I had eaten made me want to puke.
So three taste buds were serverely damaged that day.

Funnily enough, the secretary got to hear about it and phoned me up a week or so later and offered me courtesy of the course!

I got hit in the back in a club ompetition last year. Playing our third I had only just hit my ball (it was still moving and as it finished rolling to the flag (a rare good one) the bloke behind teed off. I hadn't even put my club in my bag let alone move off. It took the first bounce on landing and hit me.

I went down like an Italian defender. Actually it bloody hur and caught me about halfway up on the right. He came up (meandered is the right word) and said sorry but didn't think I could get that far. Fortuately I was in too much pain to say much. I carried on the round but it was agony carrying the bag and stiffened up after about 10 holes and I couldn't make a proper swing.

In the clubhouse he came up and put a big show on for everyone about offering me lunch and a drink. I politely refused as i was going out with HID anyway. I did post on here at the time about whether I should take it further and the consensus was that he had apologised and if I raised it it would look like sour grapes etc. Fortunately I haven't seen him around for a bit so he's either hibernating or gone somewhere else

chest, the bloke who hit me had pulled his approach 40 yards,

he came over and said sorry...I was like why did you not

I got hit in the temple by a guy 150 yards away, on the fly, no shout, nothing. First I knew was a massive bonging noise, and next I know, I am on the deck. The guy hit a 6i, and it pushed a bit right, straight at me, but he didn't see us, so no shout. Got to say it did hurt quite a bit.

Worst bit, he was a friend of mine, and to top that, he is a vicar.

Nearly got decapitated at the British Masters this year. James Kingston was teeing off and tried to cut a corner over some trees. Cut it too fine and the ball glanced off a tree. I saw it coming all the way and didn't move. It missed by about 5 feet travelling at warp speed. That wasn't the closet however. the ball then hit a metal scaffold pole on a scoreboard directly behind me, came back towards me at a vast rate of knots. I could feel the wind as it passed my left ear.

Had to sit down for a minute after that one.

The Master seems to have been the place for it. On Pro-Am day DC welted one of the marshals alongside the head with a somewhat wayward drive. A bit of the red stuff but all the guy wanted was DC to sign the ball.

I took one in the back just before Christmas from about 20 yards - thankfully the bloke hits it like an old woman so it didn't hurt as much as it could have done....

Had a nice round ball sized bruise though!!!
