Does anyone have a good recommendation for golf weekend in the central region (say 2hrs from nottingham).require accommadation aswell as good golfing, near some nightlife would be ideal.
course does not need to be too demanding as some of the party are new to the sport.

Check out Overstone Park near Northampton. I have played there a few times, but only on a day rate. Nice course, not too stretching and good facilities.

I can't comment on the resort / accomodation front but it does seem to be quite handy with everything in the same location.

There are good courses in Derbyshire, I believe. Buxton, for example. South Yorkshire also has fine courses. I've heard Grantham (Lincs.) is nice.
As for nightlife, stay in Nottingham. Good beer and curries. Nottingham girls are pretty. At least they were years ago.

Belton Park at Grantham is a good option but can be pricey. Another good option is Greetham Valley. Is about 40 minutes from Nottingham, has an hotel and 2 decent courses plus range and par 3 course. Nearby village of Greetham has 3 pubs, 2 serving decent food. As for nightlife, Stamford is a 15 minute taxi ride away with many good pubs (The Otters Pocket is a personal favourite) and 2 clubs.

I've just come back from Belton Woods nr Grantham. I organised a sunday driver package for 24 players which involved 2 rounds, B&B + evening meal for £99.00. The accomodation was very good and the courses were excellent. They even upgraded us so everyone had a double room to themselves. I had some players who need way more than 28 handicap and they still loved it.

2 hours from nottingham - how about castleknock golf club / hotel, dublin. well its only 40 minutes flight from east midlands & the nightlife is superb albeit pricey, plenty of excellent courses to choose from.
