Hello all,

I've only had 5 lessons of golf so I'm just starting out. Got to say, it's a really difficult game! I'm sure I can throw it further than I can hit it with a club at the moment, but I'm persevering.

One question I had is that I bought a few bits and bobs from the club shop, clothing wise, and I'm normally I'm an medium. What I've noticed is that a medium in golfing clothes is massive on me, are the clothes cut more generously due to the swinging movement? Just something I was wondering.

Thanks all. I look forward to learning how to play this infuriating game:)

Stick at it. While it can be the most frustrating game, it can be so rewarding!

Regrettably, as with so many things different manufacturers are slightly different in their sizing. That said, there is often a case for shirts and jumpers being slightly more generous than general wear.

One trick is to find a make that fits and suits you and stick with them.

Trousers on the other hand... I'm anywhere from a 32 to a 38 waist, manufacturer dependant.

The tighter ones are sometimes referred to as an athletic fit. Not sure why our pro stocks them as not many athletes at our place :)

Trousers should be whatever they are specified - a 34" waist should measure 34"!

But shirts can vary a lot! I bought a Great White Shark 1 size too small and it was still a shade too big. Made for the American Market!!

They can vary massively in fit. In PUMA or Lindeberg I find myself going one size up than in Galvin Green or NIKE.

Unless they're Stromberg trousers, where one style fitted perfectly as 34", but another style at 34" are at least one size too small, bordering on two!

All manufacturers come up with different sizing

It's just figuring out what's best for you

I mainly have IJP or Lyle and Scott - one is medium the other large

In trousers it's normally the fit as opposed to waist or length that is the issue
