One small step for Golf & one giant leap for Cernunnos'kind.

As the Ping S57's arrive over a week early. Okay, so I wasn't in time to change my order to z-z65 shafts, as they'd already invoced my club, but it really is a very small thing when you see these new semi-bladded heads, with the small cussioned cavity & I know the AWT shafts are still a very good shaft indeed. I really can't wait to try them out & probably would be right now if it wasn't for the fact Branston Golf course was under 4ft to 6ft of Trent water. :( :(

Any suggestions for somewhere nice within my reach to try my new wands out tomorrow, or wednesday morning without needing scuba gear to get to the first tee. :D congratulations have to go out to Ping for getting my order to me so soon & making me a very happy Cernunnos indeed.

Enjoy them in their pristine state and fantasise about the long raking 5 irons to 4 foot you will be hitting with them. Personally, if the area and local courses are under water I'd be tempted to avoid playing anywhere at the moment as you won't get a true reflection on distances etc. I'd be down the range getting to use to them and trying different shots, particularly with the short irons to see how they perform in the scoring zone. ALternatively if your club has a practice ground which isn't too badly affected get out there and pace of distances into and down wind so you know exactly how far you hit each stick

HomerJ', goes without saying I'll be down the range with them, first thing in the morning, but if anyone knows of any free draining high level heathland'ish type courses at a reasonable price not too far from me I'll be off like a shot in the silver frogwaggon.

andiritchie, was way quicker than I expected. Not to mention the fact I think I got a real bargain on them as a demo-day price.

I'll just have to alter my sig' now :D

You are a lucky so and so!

I am a proud owner of a set of S59's and love em. I picked up the S57's a couple of weeks ago and found it hard to put them back down, beautiful irons.

If only the wife wasnt expecting our second child I'd have had the wallet out the pocket and the order placed.

Good luck and enjoy the best manufacturer in golf!

Love the look of the 59's . At first wasn't sure of the looks of the 57's when I saw the first pics, but after trying both the 57's & the prior 58's which have that military look I loved in them. Thing is when I saw & tried the the new 57's in the flesh as it were, my mind was decided for me. I loved them. Great balance lovely feel. Okay, the I'10's are more forgiving & have a similar feel, but the looks & the overall feel & looks of the 57's... nice.

Well, got my first decent opportunity to try out the new Ping S57 clubs today. The conditions were not the best. Very windy. infact, it almost got up to gale force levels at one stage, as I was very high up & exposed on the course I was playing. On the positive side it was still warm enough to walk around in my shirt sleeves.. (or is that just my North-East blood showing through) Clubs felt lovely, really couldn't complain.

I'd hummed & harred about whether or not to have a 3 iron in the set. But I needn't have worried. Hit every shot out of the centre on the long irons. To the degree I was wondering If I should have ordered a 2 iron as well. May keep my eyes open for a bargain bin S series 2 iron. Will definitely come in handy when I play our North Wales golfing marathon in October.

Will have to experiment on a calmer day to see what wedges & combinations of wedges to put into action in the bag.

I'd popped in a Titleist Vokey 56" wedge I've had for some time still in its celephane up in the back bedroom. Unwrapped that, popped it in the bennington bag & I was away.

I really am glad I decided to go with the S57 irons now. And glad I had the 3 iron in the set too.

The irony is that the 50 NV Drew gap wedge I bought not long ago is too close in loft to the Pitching wedge in the Ping set @ 47". But as I say I'll need to do some experimenting on a calmer day, probably out on the recreational sports ground out the back.
