Well it seems I have golfers elbow in my right arm...

Anyone else have it?

How did you get rid of it and how long?

Do anti-inflammatory drugs help?

You sure it's not more likely to be with your weight lifting than the golf.

Certainly I get flare ups when I'm in the heavy phases of my training with heavy benching.

Ibuprofen and strapping can help with it but rest is the only 'cure'.

Well it only really affects my training if I have played golf the day before... It is very mild in the gym and only when training biceps but at times its unbearable while playing golf. I had around 10 days off golf a short time back and it never flared up once in the gym.

Softer shafts could help.

Become a Picker if you are a big divot taker.

Tennis Elbow Arm Support often helps too.

Bowls?!

I have it and carry on playing. Its not fun playing shots whilst nearly crying! I tend to find the pain subsides as the round goes on.

Just asked the wife, who knows about this sort of thing (specialist rheumatoid arthritis nurse) steroid injections or plenty of rest apparently. Obviously it's summer (ish) so plenty of rest is probably the last thing you want... She also reckons ibuleve gel is quite good.. (I had all the techno stuff first, the 'oh you mean olecranon bursitis' 'do I luv, only asked you a question for gods sake!')

Cheers mate

Yes rest is a problem at the minute as I'm weight training 5 days a week (1 leg day so only 4 involving the arm) and trying to play golf twice a week.

Roll on winter

Sounds like RSI may bring it on. You may have to give the self gratification over the tiger woods 2014 calendar a rest:rofl:

Yes it does ease after 8 holes or so... The worse thing is being right handed as that's the arm I use to throw my bag on my back 70 times a round

LOL

I had tendonitis in the back of my knee for years, the only way of managing it was through anti inflamatories and a neoprene support. This maybe a problem with your arm, but you can get a elbow strap I believe.

If it's serious you can get a steroid injection into the tendon, but I heard this has side effects like weakening the tendon and leading to longer rest periods needed.

Yes. Don't people do R.I.C.E.

Don't know what it stands for... rest, ice, compression (?) and electrocution...(????) :)

That's (primarily) for Soft Tissue injuries - and the E is for Elevation. I believe it can actually be counter-productive for some injuries - tendon/ligament ones.

Knowing what some steroid injections can do (cortizone) I'd be very careful about having more than 1, but I've heard of them being miracle cures!

If Ice works, keep that and the painkillers going, but best to check with Doctor.

Just noticed a comment after one of the crossfield playing vids that one of the pros he plays with (pickard) has a support on his elbow. It's a 'vulcan', and he says it's really good.

Means nothing to me, just relaying the info. Good luck.

Have you considered acupuncture? One of my mates had it done and despite extreme scepticism was pretty much cured.
