Does anyone have an opinion on the link between golfers wearing baseball caps all the time and the amount of them that have think/reseeding hair?

I was shocked to see Jordan yesterday and it got me thinking if there was a link.

Well I can confirm that I was severely bald long before I started playing golf... Scientific proof there for you... :D

I can also confirm that playing Rugby results in missing teeth and candy floss knees...

I wish you had raised this 10 years ago, my own hair may not have receeded. Now I have to wear one to stop sunburn.

Thomas Bjorn was the first one to shock me when he took a cap off a few years ago. Hat hair straight after a round does not help the image.

Unsure if anything scientific has ever been proven but this story has circulated the military in various guises for generations all linked to wearing head dress.

With you on that one Val. How many of us are there on this forum that did quite a long time in the military. I for one have got a hairline that is starting to move towards the back of my head, much to my disgust. I am a firm believer that if you wear a hot too often it messes up your hair follicles.

I sure we've all heard the myth, "remember and take the plastic out your beret because if you don't you'll go bald". Well I did and it still happened.

More convincing scientific proof - I have been wearing baseball caps for golf for 60 years and I have a full head of hair which grows faster and thicker than my lawn.

I'd suggest folk concerned about baldness look to the parent/uncle/grandparent they most resemble for an indication as to likely timing and style of hair recession. That's been pretty consistent in the several families I've known.

I started wearing a cap to stop my hair growing so fast (and getting bleached by the sun) - it worked on both counts so...could be a link in there somewhere!!

It is always a surprise when they first remove their cap and are follicly challenged - or have a huge white forehead...

It looked like he is definetely insecure of it, he was hiding behind his hat and fixing his Tuft on the 18th Fairway.

Final day, leading the Masters wire to wire, walking up the 18th and about to win. I'd say he's allowed a little insecurity about his appearance in those circumstances. Give the guy a break. :)

We find it highly amusing when a seemingly handsome, tanned young golfer takes his hat off to reveal a bald pate and "white forehead of shame".

Seemingly handsome? Why, how rude.. We are still handsome, we just take less time in the bathroom.. I'd think the laydeez would appreciate that?

:whoo:

If it were linked wouldn't we also have a bald 'back of hand' on our glove hand?

As an aside there must be a better name for it than 'back of your hand', after all the palm gets its own name why not the back... or am I just uneducated on this one?
