Golfbidder has moved

Have said this before but ... my issue is, as others have found, the price offered (and charged) for second hand gear.

I've got a 913D3 in near mint condition (I rated it 9/10 in all areas), they offered me £130. Not the end of the world and probably £20-£35 less than I'd make privately.

However, if I wanted to trade that in against another driver, that price simply gets knocked off the full price they are charging on that next driver.

So, if for example I wanted to sell my 9.5 and swap it for a 8.5 in much worse condition on their site, I'd have to pay about £50 for the privilege as they sell them for £180 ish.

I know I'm not the ideal customer for them but I could do that same transaction through ebay (or here on the forum) and probably actually make money, rather than lose £50.

However the point Virtuoicty made insinuates that just because I opt to deal with them in person, being fortunate enough to live in the vicinity, I am still getting ripped off and offered a price way below market value with nothing to base it on. Online, I agree they are poor but face to face I can only say I've never had any issue getting a price that would be seen as fair had I put them on here or e-bay

Unless he already knew that you deal with them face-to-face, it's you that's 'making digs' and 'wild accusations' and/or 'wild assumptions'!

A simple 'I get a better deal as I only deal with them face to face' would have been better, rather than accusing him of....well, being correct!

I accept that 100% However the point Virtuoicty made insinuates that just because I opt to deal with them in person, being fortunate enough to live in the vicinity, I am still getting ripped off and offered a price way below market value with nothing to base it on. Tell you what- I will arrange for a courier to come to your home, pick up your G25s and prior to their visit, I will pay you £20 more than Golfbidder for them AND pay for the postage costs.

You can't say fairer than that.

Isn't this idea what a pro used to do?

And he didn;t need to come on and cynically suggest I was getting a raw deal and they were a poor company to deal with without knowing the facts. It cuts both ways but enough said I feel

Very true and a good point well made. However my pro only has a limited shop space and doesnt' have the cpacity to take and sell on 2nd hand clubs that easily. He could probably take them off my hands (and at a good price as we've know each other for years socially as well as in his professional capacity) and then move them on to another pro shop locally or to a contact somewhere. it just seems hassle for him and I can go straight to Golfbidder and shift both sets of clubs (TM TP's and the G25's) in one hit at a price I am happy with

And that's the key bit with buying and selling gear whether it's new or old, best price or not as long as YOU the buyer/seller is happy with the transaction price that's all that matters. (well and not telling HID too obviously! )

He asked you a question & for some reason you took offence. I'd say with Liverpoolphils experience he's got good reason to ask the question.

'Hassle'- that's another reason why companies like Golfbidder are successful. People either can't be bothered or aren't able to sell clubs on ebay, Gumtree and via local ads so they go for the easy option. NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT and as long as you're happy, then great, honest!

The only reason for my points (and I'll bow out now as I'm not THAT bothered!) is to make other posters who are considering using Golfbidder to also consider trying to sell up privately, cutting out the middle man and making a bit more money. Regarding going to the factory unit personally and getting a better deal than online, I still reckon that 95 times out of 100, you'd get a better deal selling them yourself.

However, Golfbidder are good if you're looking for a quick, trustworthy sale. They'll give you a DECENT price and good service. and most importantly good quality clubs.

usually been pretty happy with golfbidder's prices offered to buy my stuff in the past, though I've never bought from them as the prices are a touch high.

i'm glad they've moved as trying to get your car off their forecourt at busy times was a p.i.t.a.

My understanding is that that's how GolfBidder started - by guaranteeing to take Trade-in clubs from Pros (initially only Pros) in the days before Ebay began/got big and golf Forums either didn't exist or were tiny - hard to imagine/comprehend, but that wasn't all that long ago! Neither the Pro nor the punter had hassle. I believe GolfBidder even used to collect from Pro Shops in a fairly wide initially area too - as the volume warranted it! I know an old Pro who still makes reasonable money going around Pro Shops in a big van, supplying grips, tape etc. but he's probably the last one in this online ordering age!

Cheers for the heads up. Was going to get shot of the TM TP's and G25's if I go ahead and get the I20 or I25

You're welcome Homer. if you do go, when you turn in go straight on, passing Callaway's on the right, turn left at the mini roundabout and follow it down to the end, it's dead ahead as the estate road turns left again.

Golfbidder offer excellent quality second-hand clubs at rip-off prices. That's the whole premise of their business.

In their defence golf gear plummets in price, what was a £300 driver one week can be £99.00 the next

You have to bear in mind that to run a we buy anything business they have to buy it low enough to allow for a price drop in new and what's more a bigger price drop in second hand.

Option one, you use the forum to see bats and they don't make the money you want,

Option two they go onto eBay and still don't make the money you want,

Option three, you go through golf bidder, easy golf exchange or tee to green....

But they are a BUSINESS , which they fund money up front for clubs they may or may not sell for a year or two, why shouldn't they deserve to make profit, afteral a bank wouldn't lend you money interest free.

Think the only thing you missed was "and nobody forces you to use them, if you don't like the price don't sell it to them".

Exactly.

Being honest I had a set of hybrids on here for £100 I had no offers which was for 2 hybrids plus a spare shaft.

I took them To tee to green in Banstead which is basically a small scale golf bidder who offered £90 and I could could the spare shaft, I think that was respectable given no one wanted them at £100 for the pair here, and you can now buy new with stock shafts for 70.00 each.
