After plugging this site twice on here, I have found out something today which makes me think that I wont be plugging them for a third time!

After reading about AG's price matching service I went into AG and seriously enquired about the Mizuno MX-25's which I think were up at £379, they said that could bring this down to £349 for me. At this stage I asked if they would price match? They said yes and what was the price that i had got, so I went to the car and got my print out from Golf Warehouse UK which clearly stated the Mizzy's for £247 (£270 less 10%).

The guy in AG said go and get them! But........I would call Mizuno if I was you to find out if they actually supply to them. I had the number and called Mizuno and low and behold "No Sir, we do not supply them"! IMPORTS?

I have yet to call Golf Warehouse UK, but to be honest I dont think that I am bothered, there is obviously something really fishy about this company and I for one wont be rushing to them now.

I did speak to the guy from Mizuno about the fitting centre in Wrexham and may go and have a 90min session up there just to see what they say over Xmas.

don't have an issue with imports so long as the items are genuine. unfortunately the only way you're going to find that out is to check the serial numbers with Mizuno and you can't do that until you buy them.

if they are genuine it might just point up how much we're ripped off in retail pricing.

Very interesting. As a sneaky way of getting the serial number may I suugest taking the relevant club (normally a 7 iron) off the shelf and looking at it as if keen to buy and then giving an accomplice the numbers on the quiet and then giving Mizuno a call from there.

Am I right in assuming that golfwarehouse is purely internet based and you can't go and try the clubs before purchase from them. I'm afraid I'm pretty much a dinosaur when buying clubs and prefer to go to my pro or an AG with a range and try before I buy and would rather pay a few quid more for something I knew was kosher and where after sale problems could be fixed in person rather than via phone or web. I'm more than happy to buy things like golf clothes, balls etc but clubs are expensive and I have a waryness about forking out large sums.

Didn't someone have a problem with a company a while back- may not have been this bunch but he got sold US spec Wilsons and then the extra sw didn't match. Might have been Smiffy.

Seems there's a lot of "Grey" sales going on.

On the face of it I can't really see a problem as long as they're genuine clubs. But as you can't try before you buy it does really make it Buyer Beware.

Get to Clays, get fitted and buy from CLays pro, shop. I think you will find it hard to beat there offers. Unless you pick up second hand or older models.

It was me Imurg, but it wasn't this company mate. The firm I dealt with were justgolfonline. To be fair to them (and especially Huw the salesman I dealt with) they did take the clubs back, despite the fact that I had used them once and swapped them for a set of brand new Callaway X18's, so I wasn't too unhappy with the deal I got in the end...although I didn't get on with the Callys anyway!!
I liked Huw's attitude, so much so that I subsequently ordered something else from them which was well priced, UK spec and arrived within two days so I would definitely use them again if the need arose.
As it turned out, my mistake didn't end up costing me too much money. I've now got a set of irons that I have felt, and hit before buying...I think the whole episode cost me about £70.00 in all, so not too much of a loss.
But I've learnt one thing.........future purchases (clubs in particular) will be from either the pro shop or a source that I know supply UK spec items.

I bought my MD wedge from these guys for £29.99 + P+P and asked for it to be sent to my work address and they sent it to my home address and when I phoned them they didnt even bother to try and correct their mistake. It ended up me having to wait half a Saturday for RM to deliver it when I should have been on the course or doing something worth while.

They are based in Inverness and the customer service is not great and tbh I wont be using them again after the mistake they made and the lack of help resolving it.

Since this thread is heading towards pro/high street store or t'interweb its swings and roundabouts, I have had poor service twices from AG and they try and knock out used clubs (tested by joe bloggs) as new at top prices, my local Pro doesnt stock that much gear though might give a better deal than AG or buying online and saving 10% of costs with a hit or miss type of service from some companies. Its all down to personal choice really I have had good and bad experiences from AG, local Pro & buying online.

I tend to go into an AG or NBobs to buy clubs and use the internet discount sites for clothing and accessories.

Not Keen on buying a club I've not had in my hand.

I did get a lob wedge for 1p as an offer on the www.thesportshg.com, I was buying tees balls and a towell so the club was a bonus. Cheap brand but quite a nice little performer (texan classic)

Can only speak as i find and i have always been happy with www.golfonline.co.uk. Very competitive pricing and quick delivery on time.
However, since joining my club i like to buy from the Pro shop if possible. They try to compete with the online prices. Returns are easier if needed and you can usually field test stuff on the practice ground.
I'll still do the online shop if the pro shop does not stock a particular make that i am after. But most stuff is available to order from the shop if you can wait a day or two.
