How long do you expect an umbrella to last? I spent nearly £30 on a double canopy umbrella about a year ago. Yesterday, I noticed what I can only describe as 'fraying' just above the handle and just as the round ended, the umbrella just keeled over, breaking at the handle. I am not talking about severe wind conditions, just gradual wear and tear.

I have a spare that was a freebie, but I wonder if I should take up one of the offers of three umbrellas for £9.99?

I would.
I have the woodworm ones and they do the job very well.
Keep one on my bag and one in each car for emergencies.

Have several acquired over the years. Not had an issue with the TM Or Ping ones and even got one from the pro shop with the club logo (dual canopy) which was cheap but has endured several winters of wind and rain

Very overpriced for what they are IMO. Unfortunately they are sometimes a necessary evil. You just need 3 or 4 arms to operate everything:(

the woodworm umbrellas at £9.99 for 3 are good value, but in a strong wind the shafts are tested to their limits, I've had one bend at a 90* angle, which was replaced without any hassle.

I've had my 'Volvo' brollie I blagged from a dealer for 15years+, in fact I've never had one break. If you've only had it for a year; at £30 quid I'd take it back - nothing to loose.
