Im a student a Teesside University studying product design, i have created a questionnaire to gather golfers preferences on golf trolleys and their features. to influence my final project which is to be a Eco Caddy golf trolley.I myself often play (14) and im wondering would it be possible for anyone at the club to take 5 minutes to fill out my questionnaire.

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/23L9H9H

And discuss what the next generation of golf trolleys could include in this thread

Thank you

Thanks for the feedback il edit it ... the concept ive got is to include a generator to charge the battery and power on board peripherals like a electronic score card range finder as the wheel turn through out the round to get a extended battery life. so i it will most likely be electronic remote trolley.

Sounds good, some high end trolleys do include a usb port to charge DMDs, not aware of one that has an integrted DMD though, mine has the capability to measure shot distance, it has to be turned off for comps though as my trolley also give me a wildly inaccurate current temperature reading.

So can the generator create more power than it drains from the battery through friction?

Still going through the research phase at the moment, that's what i need to try and make work and justify before the design stage

I don't see how you could make it feed back to the main battery but I do think a dynamo type device that can be retro fitted to electric or push trolleys and charge a mobile or GPS would be something with potential.

I have no idea about how this might work or whether this is even relevant but if you are planning on using the wheel rotation to charge the battery you might want to consider how long the trolley is actually moving during a round. As a complete coincidence I discovered yesterday that my own push trolley is only moving for an average of 1hr 17 minutes during a round average of 4 hours 5 minutes. It does cover 4.5 miles in that time so the wheels turn quite a lot but it is also stationary most of the time so you won't be generating anything for a lot of the time the other accessories are using the power. Like I say, might be irrelevant but thought I'd mention it. Good luck

Hawkeye raises a good point about time in motion and for that reason the obvious fix would seem to be that the generated power from all three wheels should be harnessed to feed the battery, maybe even a small solar panel added
(although flexible solar panels could be built into golf bags themselves)

Done  And if you get one designed and finished, a trolley for auction at the H4H day would be really good for your product

I haven't read it, but, from replies above, you are using a battery, to turn the wheels, which charge the battery?

Is this not like picking yourself up in a bucket?

I think if you can make it light enough that will help, but I agree with previous post you cant charge the battery while running the battery. Although I do find that I turn my trolley off when going down hill so you could maybe use that energy to charge it, bit like the KERS stystem on a formula 1 although it uses the energy from braking
