Hi,

I am looking to book a golf trip for my dad, brother and I in the UK for the old mans birthday.

Am looking at the Belfry but my knowledge of good golf venues beyond the belfry is limited!!!

Catch is, we will 3 WAGs in tow so any clubs which could keep them occupied is a must I’m afraid!

Looking for 1 night and 2 rounds of golf. Have done my own searches but struggling to come up with anything other than the Belfry! I know the Belfry is great and have played there myself but any other suggestions or recommendations on where to go would be a great help!

Thanks

Need some info -
Where are you based and how far are you willing to travel?

Wilts: Depends if they want shopping or not ??

Breadsall Priory - Derby.?
Mottram Hall - Chesire ? WAG go to Trafford Park shopping.
Oulton Hall - Leeds - not far to Leeds centre.

Hawkestone Park - stunning golf & facilities - Hotel 'ok' - near to Shrewsbury or Whitchurch for the WAG's.

Based in Herts - Next to Stansted Airport

Prepared to travel - was anticipating a morning leave time for an afternoon tee off, one night, then morning tee off and back home. Not scared of travel so anything with 3hrs drive is good!

Was thinking of Dublin as well, dependent on costs, as we live next door to stansted!

They do a 2day package thing at Woodhall Spa playing both courses and a B&B nearby, it'll be on their web site I'm sure.

There is a place down south, Devon maybe, that offers inclusive golf and spa and the like.

the name excapes me but Ashburn, or Asbury spings to mind.

Thank you all for these suggestions,

I like the look of Hawkstone and Barnham Broom am going to see what kind of deals they are doing.

heard and read very good things about Woodhall Spa, will defo play that at some point not sure if they can cater well enough for our demanding WAG's though!?!?!?

Don't go to Woodhall Spa if your taking the birds as there is he-haw to do around it and Woodhall Spa itself is a blue rinse brigade hot spot, save that trip for another time.

Wilts - have a look at http://www.golfbreaks.com/

I use them to book our society weekend away every year. We've been to some cracking places and for some good prices. They have just about every hotel/course venue out there.

Agree with Fade_Away - Barnham Broom is ace! Both courses are a challenge and the spa is pretty good, so will keep the ladies happy. We went to Old Thorns last year - only one course, but it is a cracker. Not sure what the spa is like. Forest of Arden is another good one.

We're off to Dunston Hall (Norwich) next week.

Hi,
Think the Kclub were doing a good deal on a overnight play the 2 courses and the missus gets a spa treatment for €299 last month not sure if they are still doing it.

Woodhall is damned hard I understand. Great to play but damned hard.

Good to read good things about Barnham Broom, - thats where our party of fella's is off mid june :-)

What about flying to Prestwick with Ryanair? Whats your budget and when are you hoping to play? Loads of great courses in the local area. plus shopping 4 the ladies. The real home of golf!!

Surely you need to be looking at Lancashire. Anything from Liverpool to the North......by far the best mix of quality courses south of that other place.......you know the one.....begins with an S and has an unfair amount of truly great golfing havens......Scot....something.....

Scotland, hey got it, gits......how lucky are they.....

Seriously, Lancs or what about Birmingham? easy to get into the big smoke and some tasty courses that are not the Belfry or Forest of Aylesford.....

Took the Missus to Breadsall Priory in Derbyshire for the week-end once. She loved it. Golf course wasn't brilliant but was in fair condition. The hotel and it's facilities were top notch.
I hope they've got rid of the clover at Barnham Broom. A group of us played there a few years ago and we were losing balls left, right and centre because of it....

The place in Devon is called Ashbury Manor. It is a two sited affair with the golf course (Maddeford) and the main centre (Ashbury) where there are loads of activities and sports for the other halves o try out. My recommendation would be to stay onthe golf complex and get the free minibus over to the other site as the main area is where all the families stat so the golf complex tends to be quieter (and you can get some evening holes in)

Have you had a look at my place The Celtic Manor ? Lots of stay and play offers and lots for the WAGS to do as well.

Example

Two course stay and play package in May is,

1 night's accommodation for two people.
Full Welsh breakfast.
18 holes of golf on The Montgomerie.
18 holes of golf on the Roman Road.
Full use of The Forum Health Club's facilities throughout your stay.

Sunday - Thursday
Resort Twin/Double from £114 per person
Manor House Twin/Double from £99 per person
