Am hoping to make a golfing trip down to NY/NJ area in Aug/Sept. Anyone knows
1) Best options for flights with golfing gear
2) Unmissable (& affordable) courses in the Tri-state area.

Planning to make it a week long thing.

I'm pretty sure you can take golf clubs for free with Virgin Atlantic, I'm sure they're not alone.

Yes, Virgin and BA allow free clubs on transatlantic flight. With Delta you can check your clubs in as your free bag then travel light and take a trolley bag on free as hand luggage. We did that last year when we went. You can always squeeze a few things into your golf bag to free up space ;)

Virgin & BA to NY return flts working out to something like £700-800. On the contrary, I can book 7 days (flt + B&B + 4 rounds of golf) at TPC Sawgrass for some £775 at Golfbreaks.com or YourGolftravel.com... something does not add up.

Those package prices DON'T include flights I'm afraid :(

Ahh.. just saw the 'Room only'.. interestingly the offer on the YourGolftravel website has a pic of a plane on it. So i thought it includes flights..

BA will allow clubs for free as part of your free allowance which is one hold bag and one carry on, so if you can get all your clothes in a carry on then jobs a good un as they say.

Course 101, DO NOT fly in school vacations unless necessary.

You might get a better deal flying in thro' Canada and the immigration process can be better too!!
