Hi all,

am heading off to portugal in october with 3 golfing pals for at least 4 rounds of golf and possiblly another 27 holes also. What we are trying to do at the moment is to come up with a singles scoring system that keeps everybody involved and with a chance of winning (the pride cup :D) right up to the final round.
Our handicaps are 5, 7, 15, 15.

On a previous 2 round trip with different playing partners we did a stableford format where you were guaranteed to get 1 point per hole, even if you did not play it or rack up a 10. It was just to not penalise too much for poor play.

We are thinking the same format with some bonus point available, closest the pin on par 3's, birdies, reaching par 5's in two etc.

any suggestions are welcome

How about using all but the last rounds as points scoring - 1st place 6 pts, 2nd 4 pts, 3rd 2 pts, ties split the pts (so joint first scores 5 pts). Then in the last round play stableford plus all the points you got in the previous rounds. Keeps everyone involved but doesn't render the first rounds pointless.

Thats not a bad idea. suppose stableford is the best for the first few rounds also?

any other ideas?
