With various family members being avid golfers and with birthdays / Christmas on the horizon, I was hoping to pick up a few bits and bobs as small presents / stocking fillers.

What have you got that you'd recommend?

subscription to Golf Monthly

even if its the 6mth deals would be a good pressie- I find all avid golfers have most accessories they want anyway but a subs always goes down well

I got bought one of those automatic ball cleaners from Direct Golf last year, what a piece of crap it is. It was just a big lump hanging off my bag that did not clean the ball that well, infact I could clean it twice as quick and better by spitting on it and using my towel.

Always tough to get people golfing gadgets. Does anyone have a powered trolley like a Motocaddy? Maybe get them something for their accessory station, or get them one if they do not already have it. Maybe the motocaddy carry bag for one to keep the back of their car clean. Tough to get people golfing accessories as a lot of the bits and bobs you can get just end up in the back of a cupboard. People know what balls I use and what glove I wear so if they want to get me a little something for Xmas then at least it will be used.

I asked my sister for a victorinox pitch repair tool. Bit pricey at around £25 but it's very well made, has a small blade and a tool for punching a hole if the frozen ground for tees. Also has a nice ball marker.

Steady Bear Grylls, its only a game of golf!! ;)

Whatever you get, make it something that is actually useful like pitch mark repairers and scorecard holders as has been suggested. There is an awful lot of golf related rubbish about most of which I can only assume was designed by people who have never played golf.

Heather and links make stunning golf card holders but they are expensive. Never quite managed to pluck up the courage to order one myself so I am sure that would be a much appreciated gift.

The golf gifts I have been bought over the years include magazine subscriptions (good gift), golf apparel including jumpers, shirts and trousers (good gifts), golf books (good gifts).

I've had an idea for these scorecard holders, I'm going to a manufacturer with it.

There is a choice of 2, I've called them right and left, and you can go anywhere with them as - and this is the money shot - they are attached to your trousers!!!!

I've not decided on a name yet, but I'm swaying towards pockettes. The delux version can also store a pencil/ glove/ most other crap too.

Who's in?

Umbrellas. You can't have too many. But as a general rule, never but anything that Freddy Couples wouldn't use.

Can they fit your banter as you surely have packed a lot of it...

I have to agree with the suggestion of golf balls. It took me years to convince my relatives that the right golf balls were not a boring present and were one of the best things that you can get me. OK, after that it took me another year or more to explain that not any ball was the right ball and 100 of Sports Directs finest were not ideal.

I notice that Titleist are doing free personalisation in the run up to Xmas so was going to get my brother 2 boxes of 12, one with 'Fore Left' and one with 'Fore Right' on the balls depending on which of his 2 swings he has with him that day.
