I’d suggest that a) and c) are just skills - that’s golf, and b) is covered by my observation that many moan despite greens being consistent and true.I would say slow greens are annoying because:
a) if you have to hit the putts harder there is more chance of mis-striking it. On quicker greens you can just start it on line and trust it will reach the hole and drop instead of having to 'hit' it.
b) at slower speeds the ball is more likely to deviate off line, especially if the surface is a little bobbly or sandy which could be the reason for it being slow (although you have said that they're not in this case).
c) many have "never up never in" ingrained in their heads, so they will be much more annoyed at a day when they left everything a foot short than they would if they hit everything three feet past. Although I don't subscribe to that theory, it does still annoy me when the greens have been slow and I've hit more than one putt on the correct line that has stopped a few inches short.
I also get (very) annoyed at incorrect allowances being applied in Opens. It happened a couple of years ago at a well known club near York. When I queried it, the organisers told me that the high handicappers don’t like losing shots. I reported them to the county.Clubs that think certain rules don’t apply to them:
One club advertising a Seniors Open with Full Handicap Allowance
Another giving an Open 1st prize well over the amateur status allowance (Powakaddy CT8)
Individual strokeplay with 100% Course Handicap is one of my biggest golf irritations of recent years.Clubs that think certain rules don’t apply to them:

Overall I just don't like the greens going against my expectations, because I can't wrap my head around it. When it's hot I expect the greens to be fast, in winter I expect them in to be slow. If they're suddenly fast in March or slow when it's 30° out it throws me off.I’d suggest that a) and c) are just skills - that’s golf, and b) is covered by my observation that many moan despite greens being consistent and true.
I am with you on this... Ours are really slow the now. Almost like the are air braking when they get 2/3 of the way to the hole.I would say slow greens are annoying because:

In this context, Full Handicap Allowance refers to the Course Handicap being used as the Playing Handicap. Please excuse me, my English is far from perfect, and even with DeepL's help, I'm not sure what “Full Handicap Allowance” might mean.
Could you please help me out?
Let's say it was a 4BBB competition and your course handicap is 20. You should then get 85% of that, meaning you get 17 shots. The club on this occasion decided not to apply the 85% and so you would play with the full 20 shots. If it was stableford it would be 95% and so you would get 19 shots. Please excuse me, my English is far from perfect, and even with DeepL's help, I'm not sure what “Full Handicap Allowance” might mean.
Could you please help me out?
That's a whole new discussion, why was this not factored in when the WHS was brought in. The short version is, it was thought that higher h/c golfers would benefit more from the new handicaps/slope etc and this was to bring a bit of balance. Your h/c is still worked out on full allowance but the competitions have this compensating factor worked in.But isn‘t that kind of unfair ? Isn‘t Stableford‘s purpose just to „equalize“ the different abitities, to make them comparable ?
That doesn‘t make sense to me !![]()

Is this a roundabout way of asking for permission to buy clubs?Has anyone else had this feeling..?
A club(s) that, while there is nothing wrong with them...something doesn't feel quite right but you can't put your finger on what it is..?
Or is it just me![]()
Just buy the new one that has taken your eye. Once you don't trust a club............Has anyone else had this feeling..?

Yeah, it's just a loss of confidence. It's hard to get it back usually. I had it with my old 7 wood, it served me well for years, then I hit a couple of accidental draws with it when I normally only hit fades - suddenly I couldn't shake this feeling that I didn't know where it was going to go when I hit it! So it was time to move on.Just buy the new one that has taken your eye. Once you don't trust a club............
Ha....not really...I don't need to ask anyway..Is this a roundabout way of asking for permission to buy clubs?

I presume others in our club have mentioned to the pro about the greens being slow and not running true. They have emailed us to advise that we have 'Poa annua seedheads' which are common for our type of greens.I am with you on this... Ours are really slow the now. Almost like the are air braking when they get 2/3 of the way to the hole.
Putts are deviating off line more also due to the longer grass..i get they have been protecting them a bit with the couple of weeks of dry and mostly sunny weather.
I expect they will get a good trim for the weekend.
I don't mind them being slow too much. It's the roll of the ball when it is near to stopping. We had a good few putts last night that you almost thought you were going to be picking it out the hole, only for it to break just prior to dropping.
