Apologies if this has been asked before, my knowledge of golf gear is quite dire at the moment.

Just been to the driving range with my 3 wood, #3 and #5 hybrids to look at my wild hook
I noticed both the hybrids felt much comfier in my hands, I also seemed to hit the ball better with these clubs. The 3 wood has a generic grip but the hybrids have Golf Pride grips which seem almost teardrop shaped with like a ridge on the bottom but round on the top (hope that makes sense).

Does anyone know which particular model these grips are?
I was very impressed with them, funny how I never really noticed until I started to look seriously at my grip.

Cheers
Martyn

Do any of these look like what you're after?

I think most grips have a little spine right?

I have never had any issue with just basic or stock grips. I think I will only ever buy the cheapest golfpride ones, they all seem to work well and I have never had any issues when combined with my MacWet Gloves (in the rain or dry).

The grip is your only connection to the club however and if a special grip or certain grip gives confidence then I say take it!

Ribbed golf grips are designed to encourage you to grip the club correctly. Some are ribbed and others are round. Some people feel they can't play with ribbed grips, because they can't alter the way they hold the club.

I'm using Lamkin Crossline Ace 3gen grips at the moment, which are superb, and cheaper than most of the golf pride grips.

Quite a few club sets come with ribbed grips as standard. Mizuno certainly do, and most Callaways too. For some strange reason, though, ribbed/reminder grips are less available in the aftermarket. You will often go into a golf shop and find they don't have any at all.

Ribbed grips are available in Tour Velvet, Tour Velvet BCT, Multicompound Red and Lamkin Crossline, among others. Winn grips are all round and most of the new materials like the 3Gen and NDur are all round too.

If you have the grip off a club, you can hold the open end up to a light, and look in the butt end and you will see the ridge. As said by others, they need to be put on more carefully to align the grip properly.

I bought a 5 wood off the bay and it came with a golf pride grip on it.

I do like the feel of it and have been thinking of matching the driver and 3 wood to suit.

Is it something you can do yourself or is it a golf shop job?

I have looked on you tube but they make it look easy, obvioulsy?

Anyone done there own and any tips?

Easy enough to do yourself.

All you need is your grip of choice, a curved stanley blade, masking tape, grip tape, (..Ideally) a vice and some solvent (White Spirit)

Plenty of videos on Youtube showing how to do it.

I do all my own grips as I know they are right that way. I generally don't use a vice if I am just doing the odd one, for a full set of irons I will set up camp in the shed for an hr though. Be warned when doing graphite shafts its very easy to splinter the shaft in the vice even with a tool for holding the shaft. I never put graphite in a vice for this reason.
