I'm fairly new to golf so will be looking to outfit myself with a set of clubs, bag, shoes etc etc....

I have a budget of £650 to spend on everything, what would you guys sugest for my money?

Ask around about a decent pro. Go in there, tell him/her that you've got about £500 to spend. They should give you some good advice and you ought to be able to pick up some very decent second-hand gear for that budget.

The extra £150 can be used if there's anything you really like/want to take you out of your price bracket. Remember to haggle too. Most will do you a deal. You could even get some lessons with some extra cash or badger the pro into throwing a few in with the price.

Let us know how you get on! :)

Be careful if you but via e-bay. Whilst there are some good second hand clubs (and new) on it there are also loads of fakes. If you are looking to but new and dependant on your standard have a chat with your local pro who'll give you some sound advice. There are some pretty good stuff out there from the likes of Benross and MD golf which means you can get a good quality set and have money left for shoes, a bag and some balls as well as getting a few lessons. Good luck and let us know what you get
