Ok we've all said it....I play the game for enjoyment.....Or I play the game to get away from all the hustle and bustle for a few hours.....
But when things go pear shaped like they will for the majority of us lot on the course do you think that stress levels increase...
For me im competitive always have been and i dont see that changing anytime soon...But....I am also one of the most laid back people that you could play a round with...Dont get me wrong i do take it serious but i dont take it to the extreme that i sometimes witness..
I have a happy knack at letting bad shots behind me....Its like the referee's decision in a match...It might be the wrong one but you wont change it so just get on with the game!

Have you ever came off after 18 feeling more stressed and annoyed at the way the round went even though you say you play the game for "Enjoyment"?

Yep. Yesterday. I was playing really well and then came upon hollow tined greens from the 6th hole onwards. Have you tried putting on freshly tined greens???? 3 putted 3 of the next 4 holes. Managed to 2 putt 10 for par but then 3 putted 11 & 12 as well. Got to the short par 3 13th and hit wedge, came straight down in a greenside bunker and had a "fried egg" in the downslope, an almost impossible lie and possibly the worst one I have faced for many a round. Managed to get it out, but then 3 putted again for my 1st blob on the card. Was livid, both with myself but mainly the clubs decision to allow course maintenance like that to be carried out in the middle of a comp.
Any semblance of "timing" or "rhythm" that I may have possessed then went out of the window as I proceeded to hack my way down the par 5 14th and four putted for another blob. Steam was coming out of my ears as I then carved my next tee shot into the heather off 15 and hacked my way to yet another blob. Three on the trot!
Lit up a fag on the 16th tee and took some deep breaths with the sound of my Japanese playing partner telling me to "lelax, lelax Lobert" ringing in my ears. Thank you Mr Stephen Ing.
Managed to recover my composure a little and finished the last 3 holes collecting 6 points but if I had been able to get my hands on a greenkeeper at the 14th I would have stuffed my driver up his jacksie......knobbly end first.
:angry::angry:

And breathe........

No matter how bad the round I try to focus on the few good shots or things I did right and take them on to the next round. No point dwelling on the shanks, hooks, duffs etc, just go to the range and groove the swing properly before trying again, helped by advice from a good pro.
